Just curious if anyone increases tire pressure when towing. I asked the Dodge dealership and was told no change in tire pressure for towing for my 2014 Ram 1500.

Theoretically, the tire pressure listed on your door jamb is the pressure that is required to meet the vehicles GVWR. As long as you aren't overweight, you technically don't need to do anything with your tires.

However, by increasing the pressure some may actually find that the vehicle rides/drives/handles better when loaded.

My door jamb says 55 front, 80 rear. When not towing or hauling I run 50-55 in the front and 62-65 in the rear. When towing I increase the rear to 80.

I sometimes let some air out of the rear tires if I will not be towing the 5er any time soon. But most of the time I just leave the 80 psi there.
65 in the front never changes.

I don't change the air pressure from what the door sticker says (70 front, 65 rear) and tire wear and ride is great whether towing or not. My last truck I towed at max (80 psi) and the tires didn't wear properly; learned my lesson.

It doesn't surprise me that a dealership has no idea how to air up truck tires.
Check your door sticker first.
You probably can run a lower pressure than max for everyday use. But when you load the truck up, you need more air in the tires so they can safely haul the weight.

The tires on my excursion have X pounds at 80 psi. The door sticker says way less psi. If I leave 80 psi in the tires when not towing it rides like a truck. If I unhook for more then a couple weeks I let some air out.
