Used Hensley Arrow

I've come across the opportunity to buy a used hensley. It's 7 years old with 1400 bars and a straight stinger, which according to the folks at hensley is precisely what I need. The price is $500, but it's a 360 mile round trip to get it. I figure I can always get my money back out of it, but 8 hours of driving on a Saturday isn't all that appealing. For the price, is it worth an 8 hour drive. I've owned a ProPride before so I know what to expect, but my equalizer tows just fine. Seems like a good deal though.

Man that is a FIND!! They don't get any cleaner than that! If you need help with the set up shoot me a PM. I've had ours since 2002 and wouldn't tow without it. We were out Sunday with 40+ mph cross winds and you could feel the wind pushing on the rig and the truck, but NO sway...was wondering if I would have had to pull over if I had a regular hitch.

Hate to say it but that would have worth your time if they wanted $1000. How did you find out about it?

Memphis Craigslist. It had been I there for about 10 days. I can't believe it lasted that long. The dealership didn't know much about it. I had to go on the pictures they sent and calling Hensley with the serial number for info. I took a chance going that far but it worked out.

I have a neighbor here in Seattle that is trying to get rid of one.

A RV dealership in Southaven MS had it. The previous owners left it on the TT they traded for a motor home. I told them after I paid fot it they could have gotten more. They were asking $675 and I got them down to $500. I will have to replace one of the grease fitting as it has sheared off. I'm going to call Hensley in the morning and order 2 new ones and an emergency kit. Other than that it's in great shape. I'm glad I went.

Looks like you got yourself the deal of the Century! ๐Ÿ™‚ That hitch looks great and you should just have to pump some grease into the zerks and then go try it out. Doesn't look to me like it needs any re-building. I would say that round trip of 360 miles was a trip well worth taking! ๐Ÿ™‚

Well, I got it. I left at 4:30 this morning and got back at 12:00. I checked to make sure the strut bars weren't bent and that there were no cracks around the bushing for the weight dist bars. Everything looked good.

You will not regret getting that hitch for one moment! ๐Ÿ™‚ If it needs it they are very easy to re-build and recondition. I did it a couple of years ago on mine and posted about it here.

You are going to love towing with that hitch just as I'm sure you did with the ProPride. If you don't use it you will be able to sell it for considerably more than you paid.

Here is a good thread to help you identify some of the issue area's on a Hensley...

Broke Hensley

And no, I am not trying to doom and gloom, nothing is perfect and its a good idea to know where the issues are with Hensleys. But, in order for Hensley to transfer the lifetime warrenty on this hitch its about $500 ish bucks...Suddenly $650 turns into $1150.00 which is getting close to what a re-furb Hensley runs from the factory.

Oh, the factory refurb... see this page on the Hensley website and the information on the refurb Hensley program is near the bottom.

Thanks!

Jeremiah

The quote I got for a refurbished hitch was $2200. The warranty is $517 if I'm recalling correctly. Buying the warranty also gets you into the hitch bar exchange.

Absolutely! Grab it while you can. You probably won't see another at this price....ever again. If your equalizer "tows just fine"....you will be amazed at the difference the HA will make.

$500 and around $150 in gas plus the time of the road trip. that`s $650 or so for a HA well worth it in price. your time is your call. if you really want one then it is worth the drive. you could easily flip it for twice that!
