Hi All,

I purchased a new 2013 EC 950 in July....washing it this morning I noticed when I pushed up on the front fiberglass cap, under the bed (over the cab) there was about 1-1.5" of play. What I mean is the fiberglass is not attached to the bottom of the cab-over. This starts about 1 foot in from the front and sides.

Is this de-laminated or a flaw that I need to have corrected before the warranty runs out?

I gave the rep the name of a local repair shop as well as Camping World. Going on a week with no response, my guess is wat you suggest, nobody qualified as well as not wanting to insure the work.

As much as a PIA it would be, my thoughts are that only the manufacturer can do it. My preference would be to remove the whole thing and do it right.

Could be a water leak from a seam or marker light or something else finding its way down to the lowest point and causing the glue on the panel to fail. Really needs to be opened up and investigated what the cause is. I had a new Arctic Fox that had the same problem and it turned out to be a leak in the upper seam and the water ran down to the bottom of the cabover. AF replaced the entire front nose at the factory, actually they did it three times but that's another story!

I wonder how they do it at the factory when new. The front is a one piece cap so I don't know how they would ever vacuum this. I would think they probably glue it and put pressure under it till the glue sets up but with the front cap already on I don't know of any other way of doing it then the way they have suggested. Unless it goes back to the factory and then removed the front cap and redid it.

The glue process is originally done in the factory with a vacuum and much earlier in construction. The method described will be the least visually noticeable. As Doug from Elk Grove mentioned, the other option is external screws pushing the fiberglass back against the framing. However, I think that option leaves one still wondering why it happened in the first place. There should be some internal visual benefits to what they attempt to do.

Well the good folks at Eagle Cap got back to me after I sent them a video of the fiberglass not adhered to the bottom of the cab over. Their engineering department came up with this fix:

Remove the bed, the rug under the bed, then drill holes to the fiberglass then inject glue and re-clamp the fiberglass to the bottom.

They are currently calling RV repair shops in my area to see if they will do that suggested work and guarantee it.!

This procedure sounds very sketchy to me!

Your thoughts???

Well I certainly don't want screws holding my fiberglass to the camper. That might cause some spider cracking out from the screws down the line.

I have exchanged emails with EC's rep, Brad Boyle. He wanted some pictures so I sent him a movie of me pushing up the bottom of the camper.

We'll see.....

This happened with my 2005 EC 950 a few years after I got it. A local repair shop put in 6 screws with chrome caps that fixed the issue and didn't look too bad.

The belly of the cabover should be adhered to the frame. I won't jump to any conclusions why yours isn't but just know it is supposed to be.

Its something that you should have addressed immediately, especially while its still under warranty. My guess is that the area was not glued properly, since its such a new TC.
