Mobile RV tech came out to fix trim..took the whole trim off.. Only thing that i may now OCD about is he used Putty tape and not Butyl... he says he doesnt like Butyl tape and has been using putty tape in 45 years in business... he put two layers of putty tape inside the trim and then he put an extra screw towards the end and sealed it up nice.. He then ran a bead of silicone over the top and the bottom of that trim at my request... he was real nice and seemed very knowledgeable.. im just now scared of putty tape..He told me to calm down and relax the trim is fine and that wood wont get wet with the putty tape that he put in there.. so i will listen to him.. he also didnt put silicone on the screws when he screwed them in, he just screwed right into the putty tape..is this ok? and thanks for all that helped, maybe i will sleep easy tonight..

im just now scared of putty tape

Don't be. FWIW, I pulled putty tape off my trailer that was 40 yrs. old that was under trim pieces and it was still good. Putty has a benefit beyond the butyl stuff and maybe your repair guy was able to explain that to you.

I guess no one has told you so let me be the first: Do not use any silicone based sealants on the exterior of your TT. It will probably be fine for areas that don't have any sun on them but is known to fail when exposed to UV and weather. It is also a ***** to remove when you want to add more sealant. Use a polymer based sealant like Proflex RV or a urethane based sealant/adhesive like 3M Marine on exterior surfaces.

I'll bet the putty tape being new and pliable will seal up around the threads of the screws. If you're still a bit nervous about it you could pull the screws one at a time and add some sealant and screw them back in. Personally I would probably leave it as is though.

I think you'll be fine. The putty tape takes years to fail and then it's in area's that get a lot of direct sun and water. That area probably gets very little of either so it should last a lifetime.
