No advice on gas tanks for you. (I use steel NATO cans in carriers mounted on the back wall of the camper).
BUT.....this is the first time I've seen another Go-Devil 35hp Surface Drive owner on this forum. I had one for quite a few years in Alaska and loved it. I had mine on a Lowe 18x48 jon boat with a roll bar.
I wanted one for years. Tried to buy a long tail from a co-worker duck hunting buddy but he wasn't interested in selling. So I bought a new one. I originally had a 23 HP longtail. But after bouncing off the docks and fighting it to get back on trailer, I sold it and bought the new 35HP surface drive. I don't know how much longer I'll keep it though. I got it to get back to duck hunting and chasing redfish in the marsh with my son. Now he has 2 babies and is working a lot of hours. I'm a bit tired of the "workout" operating it all day anyway! LOL I'm thinking just for me an outboard would work fine. I'm looking at Alweld tunnel with maybe a 40-50HP. I want something for relatively shallow water that is a bit too shallow for my bay boat.
Did you run yours with a rock guard? My perception is Alaska has rocky rivers.

My Ford Super Duty has a spare fitting on the top of the fuel tank just for that situation, I connected a fuel line to it so that I can draw from the trucks tank, Ask your dealer if yours has that connection and put a โQuick Couplerโ by your fuel fill and you are set to go.

Change out the ac to one that only requires one Honda and sell the extra ac and extra Honda on Craig's List. Problem solved.
