We left through Level Pebble (Flat Rock, AL) and have made it as far as the BassPro shop in Plattsburg, AL.

Hope to get to Mobile or even Biloxi, MS tomorrow. I was stationed in Biloxi at Kessler AFB 51 years ago.

We'll be heading west from there... california in a couple of months... home in August
We hope to see some of you over the next 5 months.

Don't tell anyone where we are:W

Started this thread at 707 nights... todays subject edit on July 24, 2009

Inquirees have made me think a bit...

and to share 2012 SPRING LOOP

the general plan... miss the tornados.... be home before the first of June

We are heading south thru Jimmy Carter country to Tallassee... and he coast... getting away from the middle America E/W interstates and the tornado alleys.

We'll be heading west and then down toward Brownsville... then follow the border to NM... North as far as rocky Mtn NP and then head east thru Nashville toward the end of May... we have never been inside the State Capital.

I'll be posting some as we go...

PS... the camperport did great in the storms, no damage that I can see... best $3500 I spent last year. I highly recommend it.

Thanks... for the kind thoughts, PMs and emails.

It has been a hard year: (you should go camping and write about it so that we can read about it)

Janet has had 4 surgeries since July... two of them on her left shoulder... and is wearing a boot for a stress fracture on her foot... she has fineally healed enough to start PT this week.

I'm getting invasive tests that make me sick... a bummer.

We'd hoped to go to Savannah, Ga for Thanksgiving... the campers ready... we are wanting...

1081 nights and holding...

Chet

On edit... I had to correct our number... wishfully I'd added a one instead of a zero

Don't make me come there and get you Chet!

It gets lonely out on the road knowing you and Janet are not turning around some corner down the road from me, somewhere.

Stay in touch. You know where I am and how to find me.

I hope to eventually get back to this thread...

... we both have medical issues that have us at a stand still. I'm totally exhausted... and Janet has weeks of immobility before she can even consider physical therpy.

I have got some positive tests... and I'm told that I'm going through some more medical tests and have some very hard decissions to make.

You'll all be at this point someday... baring accidental death. Age spares no one.

I hope that yo can keep camping forever. Me too!

Thanks to all of you for following along.

I have been working on my TC project list over the last couple of months... I hope this flurry of activity between eye drops, etc will last for a long time... I really need to do a Project Report.

I have had 2 leaf springs added to the truck, that job was bigger than me.

I have replaced the foam in the dinette seats, It really made a difference.

I have removed rust caused by too many nights at the ocean and painted the camper jacks and other exposed metal

I have repaired a weak joint in the slide out opening frame work...

I replaced the last of my incadesent lights with LED's

I have completely rehab'd the Fantastic 6000 exhaust fan in the camper bath room... new motors, lift mechinism, and rain sensor

and I have redesigned the equipment and function of the camper galley... it is now a lot more PVSolar friendly

I'll have to get out my honey-do list and add the things I've forgotten to this update.

I haven't forgotten... I have been working on our camper in between the medical stuff. An hour here, a day there.

Doing... Repairs, Mods, cleaning, painting,etc.

After 10 years and nearly 3 years of travel the wear and tear, and function of our camper had slipped a little.

I'll have atleast one major mod to share... hint: Making more and better use of PVSolar.

Thanks for your patience.

There is some good stuff promised and still coming from our LA and Texas trip.

The Dr says she is now a sniper.

LOL :B Great to read the good news!

My dad experience the same remarkable color fidelity, sharpness of vision, depth of field after the same surgery. It is like a new lease on life.

Cheers,

Several years ago I had the cataract surgery on both eyes 6 weeks apart. Now I only use "cheater glasses" when reading the fine print. Luckily both eyes went great.

You've got a couple months of hot weather before it cools down enough to make traveling fun. Hopefully everything will be healed up by then.

Janet had her right eye done a few days ago... this time without the excruciating pain. We are down to 8 drops per day in her eye now. After the first surgery she was surprised that our 51 years of marriage was still intact.

She is excited... no glasses at all... colors are brilliant, she can see a mouses toe nails at a thousand feet, and read the fine print on an asperine bottle. The Dr says she is now a sniper.

I've been working on the camper's punch list between times for the drops... and of course sort of keeping up with the house. :W

We'd like to get to Charleston and Savannah late this fall. Maybe salt the camper a bit in that area.

Stop by if you get a chance in east Tennessee.

Thanks for the update, Sleepy. We are your friends and will not abandon you. Our best to Janet and it will also be interesting to hear about what you found to be the best thing for mattress and dinette cushion upgrades, etc.

Please don't buy Janet a rifle scope!

We hope things stabilize soon... the pains would be over... and so that the trip report will be done... and we can plan on a fall trip.

Take your time. We are waiting patiently!
