A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Went camping this weekend at a campground on the lake, had not been there for a few years. Once there I began to walk around looking at the different sites when I noticed a very old dog. He just lay there until I got too close then he got up on three legs and hobbled away. Just judging I would say he is at least 11 years old. Well back to my story. The next afternoon he wanders into camp and just sits there looking. He looked so sad, so the wife got a bowl of our dog's food and put it down for him and he came over and ate. He then walked over to our dog and the two of them sniffed each other over and then they lay down together for the rest of the afternoon. That night he disappeared.
The next morning he was back and was a little more receptive of me. I looked at his injured leg and found that half of his rear foot was gone. It had healed and was not causing any problem except that he was walking on the stub that was left with no foot pad which causes him to limp. His front teeth were gone except for one canine tooth and it looked decayed. His eyes were tired looking and showing his age. He spent the rest of the day just laying around looking for a handout and by afternoon the campground host came around and saw him. I enquired about the dog and was told he had been there for three years and that most of the campers were tolerant of him and gave him food.
So what to do? Do you pick him up and bring him home or do you let nature take it course. He can't harm anyone, he has no teeth and he isn't a nuisance unless you don't like dogs, and no one seems to mind him being there. He is gentle and likes other animals as seen by his interaction with our dog. He still would not let me touch him but he would eat from my hand. Enough said, what would you do???

On June 28th 2008 Old Fella passed away of complications caused by bone cancer. Fella spent almost three years with his new family and became the icon of rescued old stray dogs. He will be greatly missed but his foot prints have been left in our hearts forever.

Now Charlie, the ten year old rescued Golden Lab has come to be a part of the continuing Old Fella story. (*Note, Charlie took his journey to Rainbow Bridge unexpectedly September 30, 2008)Suzie continues to charm her way into our hearts with her antics as she has grown from a puppy into a young lady. Togther they will carry on the Old Fella legacy. Come join us in their daily lives and be a part of the best feel good thread in RV.NET history. The legacy lives on.

At 11:59 PM tonight Ohio will be another state where all businesses will be closed except the essential businesses. We are supposed to stay at home unless you are someone who still works for a place that can stay open or to go get food or medical.

We have only gone out to get food or prescriptions over the last 2 weeks. We do our best to keep social distance but it seams like some people just want to occupy your space.

Good morning everyone. Well we are still here. NO sickness at camp Dixie this morning. Hope all is well with everyone. All the COE campgrounds are closed here. If you are already there you can stay until your reservations are over, but no new people coming in to stay. Greenville has not been hit too hard with only a few cases of coronavirus being reported. 85 inmates have been released from the jails and sent home. Talked with Charles in Texas yesterday and Texas is taking seriously the coronavirus. Here No restaurants are open for dine in. It's all take out. The grocery store was busy yesterday as Sue and went for some essentials. Bought gas for the land yacht and then came home. The old Lincoln is till running good and the air is blowing cold. Yesterday we saw 81 degrees and today will be another warm one. The pollen is very heavy right now. There is a heavy dusting of pollen on everything outside.

Okay I need to get moving so I will close for now wishing everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them.

What a shock to the system, from T-shirt two days ago to snow flurries this AM. We'll be home tomorrow, about 3 weeks early.

For those of you who think this thing is going to be over in a few weeks, probably not. Until we have a vaccine all of us older folks will have to practice social distancing until we can be protected. As a society, as soon as enough people get sick and recover AND our health care system is able to handle the number of cases requiring care we won't get back to "normal."

We MAY see some moderation during summer, but another wave will probably happen as not enough of our population will be immune. This is the epidemiological pattern seen over and over. We need the vaccine trials to succeed rapidly, otherwise we're in for a prolonged change in our way of life.

We've been "sheltering in place" for the last two weeks, even though our shelter has been moving some of the time. The campgrounds have been doing curbside check-in and the only contact we've had is with the gas pump and one trip to Walgreens. We've done a couple of drive through restraunts. Minimizing human interaction closer than several feet.

Our home county (Lake, IN) is up to 6 cases and has doubled in the last 3-4 days. This is pretty typical for this virus - doubling every 3-7 days. It's not just more testing, though that is part of the increase. People need to heed the precautions to give us time to develop the tools and equipment to fight this thing. OK, enough preaching.

Stay safe.

Good morning everyone. This morning I feel okay. No drainage, no sniffles, no sore throat. So I guess what ever it was decided to find somewhere else to live, Yesterday was our first real spring day. Today we will be in the 80's. The pine tress are budding with the yellow pods and filling the air with pollen. Pollen is covering everything outside. The kitties are still hanging around our porch waiting for food. Yesterday we saw the neighbor feeding them so I know they are being fed.

The Outer Banks in North Carolina has closed down. No one from outside the area is allowed in. The North Carolina reality commission is asking all monies be refunded to those folks who have paid for rental houses. This is hitting hard those people who have given commissions to the agents that rented the houses to those folks who were coming for the summer fun and surf. I guess if I had paid for a rental home and was not able to use it I would want my money back. Times are getting hard. My x-sister in law just became a millionaire over night. She and her husband owned 100 acres of land out in Columbia county. It has turned into a busy industrial corner and she sold the property. Her husband is in a government care facility with Alzheimer's. He has been there for several years now, It's been hard on her but now things will be much easier. She and her husband have always been God fearing people. They raised their children in church and have always been the kind of people you want as family.

I hope all is well with everyone and I wish you a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone youlove them.

The pollen has been awful in Florida. We haven't had any rain in several weeks so its really dry and dusty from all the pollen. It's been killing my sinuses.

Our firm is ramping up for most of our employees to work from home. It is really doing to stress our computer systems. I really hope this settles down in a few weeks as it is going to put a lot of small businesses out of business.

We can only hope that in a few weeks things will settle down. But watching the news and seeing all the people at the beach and out and about it may take awhile longer.
We have been staying home unless we need to go out for food or medicine.

Hope everyone stays safe and healthy.

Good morning everyone. Woke up sick this morning, sore throat running nose and congestion. Don't kow if it's a cold or what. just have too wait and see. I did have the sniffles a few days ago and it cleared up with some cold medicine. Maybe just a cold or sinus allergy. There is pollen in the air from all the trees and flowers that are blooming so maybe that is it. No fever so that is a good sign.

I hop everyone is well and looking forward to spring camping. All of our state parks and camp grounds are close due to the corolla virus. Never seen such in my life. I will be glad when all of this has passed.

The fur babies are well. Suzie amazes me. At almost fourteen years old she can still jump up on the bed. She shows no signs of joint pain. She loves to go for walks and she eats well. Just such a blessing to see her enjoying life at her age.

Okay I will close for now wishing everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them.

Good morning everyone/ We are well and have plenty of toilet paper. Don't kow why the run on TP, can anyone explain it?. Could it be the people who make toilet paper have found a new way to sell it?

WE have stopped feeding the outdoor kitties hoping they will go home. So far they are still hanging around. Our neighbor called and requested we not feed them anymore so they would go back home. Since they are the owners of the kitties we have obliged them. Sue is off to church to pray. The church prayer room is open so folks can go pray for our nation and our president. Okay I need to get moving so I will close for now wishing everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give he fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them.

I am waiting to hear about how the the wedding went ๐Ÿ™‚

The wedding went well. I managed to get it done without any mistakes or stumbling through the words. The bride and groom are in Hawaii right now on their honeymoon. I think most likely that is the last wedding I will do.. I hope all is well with everyone. Spring has finally gotten here. Thursday we will see a high of 78 degrees and Friday we will see a high of 80. At our neighbors request we have stopped feeding the cats. After all they are the neighbors cats and not ours. They have been over here begging for food. They didn't spend the night with us last night, The cat condo was empty all night and the heated bed was removed so the only place left for them is the cat condo. I guess it was not to their liking I don't know why I have become so attached to those cats, iys not like me to be a cat person, However I have become very attached to them, especially Little Bit. She has the sweetest face and loves to cuddle. She has stayed at our house without leaving more than the other kitties. She really likes it over here. She spends most of her days over here lying around in the cat condo or on top of it. The little Feral kitty hasn't been around in a long time. I guess it is gone, been eaten by a coyote, run over by a car or just found some other place to live.

Okay I need to get moving so I will close for now wishing everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them.

No posts for a few day, I hope all foofs are healthy and dealing with the new lifestyle we will have for a couple of months (or more).

We're heading home (from Florida) early. They are shutting everything down at home (schools, businesses, restaurants and bars). Pharmacies and groceries will stay open.

We feel safe here in Florida but will feel better at home where we have family and health care services we're familary with. BTW, all the hospitals at home are setting up tents in their parking lots, probably to act as triage intake areas to try to keep corona out of the hospital.

Stay safe and listen to your local health professionals!!
