I have not stayed at Blythe but it is probably more scenic. Coastal Ga is brand new, all concrete pull thrus, excellent rest rooms/showers, easy on/off 95 and fuel and food at the same exit. Its a good stop for convenience. But there are more interesting places to visit if you have the time, such as St Simons or Savannah.

What BillMFl says is the best way to go, only we stay at Blythe Island Regional Park in Brunswick Ga.

My route to/from Maine and Fl avoids the Boston to Washington area completely. From Exeter hop on 101 to Manchester then up to Concord to 9 to Brattleboro. Only takes a little over two hours and you skip the tolls on 95 and the traffic on 495 to 90, etc. From Brattleboro I go south on I91 to I90. Then 90 to 87 to 287 to 78 to I81. From there you have many options, but if you prefer not to drive steep inclines over the Blue Ridge, take I66 to 17 to I95 at Fredericksburg then south on I95 to I10 to 301 to 75 just north of Ocala. I have used all the other routes mentioned and the difference in time and miles is minor. The biggest difference to me is the steep grades on 77. Beautiful scenery tho. My route avoids all the big steep grades. From Exeter I would probably spend the first night at Western Village in Carlisle Pa just off I81. Second night in Fayettville Rv near Wade NC, third night in Coastal Ga at Brunswick and you could be in Ft Myers the fourth night. You can also take I81 all the way south to I75 but lots of folks avoid Atlanta. You didn't mention if you wanted to make visits along the way. You might vary your route based on things you want to see? There are also a number of non interstate routes available, but the route I use is mostly high speed and lots of services along the way.

Can't help you on route since we go back and forth from the central part of U.S. to Ft. Myers, but you are headed to right place IMHO!

can go a cpl of different routes...we're leaving 4/6..probably go 84 to Newburgh,NY then 87 south to 287 west to 78..then 78 out to 81 and down to 66 in Va to rt 17 to 95 just north of Richmond...then down 95 to 26 to Columbia,SC then 20 out to Ga and pick up rt 83 at exit 113..take 83 all the way down to 75 just north of Macon...and down to Tally...Chuck
In the summer probably would stay on 81 to 77 then straight down 77 to Columbia ...but not sure what the weather maybe like in a cpl of weeks

We do anything to avoid the Baltimore-Washington area on I-95. Usually go down either I-81 to I-77 to I-26 to I-95 or in Delaware take Rt.1 to Rt. 13 to the Bridge/Tunnel to Rt. 17 to I-95. We will go one way and come back the other taking our time and stopping along the way. The Baltimore-Washington area puts me in such a bad mood it takes the rest of the vacation to recover.

Double ditto. Steer clear of Baltimore-DC and go I-81. Try to stay away from Atlanta too. US441 is a nice route until you're south of Atlanta.
