My wife and I are planning a trip to check out the rv parks in Myrtle Beach. I'm looking for the best route from Buffalo NY and recommendations on rv parks.
Thanks,
Rich

Ocean Lakes before Easter isn't that bad and just about guaranteed to have sites this time of year. Would recommend there for the first couple of nights while you search around. Try KK section as it is a block from the beach, a block from the store/restaurant, and a straight shot in.

Once you look around you can go with some place else that you like better and can get in.

I stayed at Myrtle beach state park in December 2015.. nice place. half of it is closed till March... some Full hookups. they fill up on weekends.
they are about to do road-in repairs.

Huntington State park.. in January 2016.. very limited full hookups. but lots of room between sites.. and very clean. they were trimming trees the last week of January. Major trimming.

currently at Edisto beach state park. but that is more then 120 miles away from Myrtle.

We like MBTP ourselves, just the two of us . I leave from east of Rochester, pick up 15 in Pa and run I 81 to I 64. From there I just meander across Va, picking up 17 someplace in NC and taking it on into MB. Certainly not the quickest, we are in no hurry, usually stay two nights on the way down.

Been camping in MB area for many years. Both state parks (Myrtle Beach and Huntington Beach) are great, but limited sewered sites. The "big three" on the ocean (Ocean Lakes, Lakewood, Pirateland) are HUGE, expensive, with very tight sites and are often crowded. Myrtle Beach Travel Park, at the northern end of the "Grand Strand", may be the nicest private CG in the area. Do not like Apache Campground at all. Extremely tight sites, narrow driving lanes, and just not all that friendly in our experience. Really depends on what you want/need from a CG and what you would like to do when you get here. Feel free to PM if you have any questions. BTW, how you get to MB is greatly impacted by which CG you choose to go to. Choose your CG first, then determine how to complete your trip. Might want to check out www.rvparkreviews.com for other campers' opinions on this area's campgrounds.

The most direct route would be US219, PA153, US322, PA350. I99, I76, I70, I81, I66, US17 then pick up the previous route to complete or if you want limited access type driving use the route from the previous post and use I66 to US17. US17 between US50 and I66 narrow twisty and is tractor trailer restricted.

We live along US322 and travel to Buffalo via US219 and I95 South often.

Out of Buffalo I'd do I-90 (or I-390 to I-86) to pick up I-81. Take I-81 to US50 in Winchester VA, then pick up US17 to hook up to I-95 just north of Fredricksburg. If you want to stop for the night, there's a decent KOA in Fredricksburg convenient to I-95.

Use I-295 to get around Richmond. We picked up I-40 to Wilmington then US17 from there.

We stayed in Ocean Lakes, but unless you can get a spot right on the beach, I don't recommend it. The place is just too big. Huntington Beach SP in Murrells Inlet seems to get high marks.
