Crossing the Boarder going either way is a hit and miss. Sometimes the agent ( no matter Canadian or American) will ask from a few easy questions to a lot of questions that you would never in your wildest idea be asked when you cross the boarder.
We live with in 30 minutes of the Wash State Boarder above Spokane and with relatives in Wash Org and Az, we are going back and forth all the time.
Coming back into Canada we had more than the limit of booze ( all types) a number of times, sometime they will say you have to pay duity on the above allowable limit. Sometimes they ask how much you have and I go through the list of 17 beer, 1/2 bottle of Rye, 1/4 bottle Rum and 2 bottles of wine, then they ask what the dollar value of the items purchased that we are brining home....
the booze will pass but if we went over on the cash value on goods.... pull off to the side and come on in.
In April we went down to Org for a week to visit relatives. They have a craving for a type of beer up here as well as a votka locality made. We were well over our allowable limit going into the States had it out in the open on the back seat of the truck, they Boarder agent asked if we had anymore than that, when we said no, he asked why so much. I said my relatives crave this stuff... we then had about 20 questions about my relatives on what they do, and where they live and how long have they been in the USA. 15 minutes later we were on our way.

Never give out more info than you are asked.
Never try to hide anything that you know is not permitted in ither country. Going south into the USA bringing in Kinder Suprize candies is not permitted.
Never have your sunglasses on.
If they ask you for the keys to your RV hand them over show which key fits the doors and the cubbies and tell them which lock is "locked" on the RV door. Sometimes they ask you to come with them and that has only happened once to me and there were three of them. 99% of the time they go in alone and poke around.
And always remember, they are doing a job to protect everyone in either country including the wildlife and plants. And so times they have bad days and getting snarky with them because they are taking to long or you don't like something else they are doing will never ever help your cause... believe me I have seen it happen over the years where people get mad at the agents and the next thing you see they get the pull over to the side arm movement.
As far as bring the plants in to Canada, if they ask say you have them but if they do r ask don't tell.
You shouldn't have a problem unless you get the guy who just had a fight with his girls friend
