Easyest route from Johnson City, TN to Gatlinburg, TN

What is the best route to Twin Creeks RV Resort in Gatlinburg. We don't really want to come in from the Seiverville exit because traffic is always crazy coming from that direction. There is a back way into Gatlinburg, I think through Newport, but I'm not exactly sure about that. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!

If you want to avoid the interstate 11E to Greenville and pick up 321 is all good road but it will take you right thru downtown Newport. I have done it pulling my trailer and its not that bad. There is a Walmart just past the I-40 (exit 335) overpass if you need anything. Keep going till you hit a stop sign, that will be rt.73. turn RIGHT. In a short distance there is a LEFT turn and you are on 321 (again) to Cosby. Cosby is not big. In Cosby there is another RIGHT turn, DON'T MISS IT. If you go straight it will take you to exit 447 on I-40. You will now have a straight shot to your campground.

I would take 11E out of Johnson City to Greeneville. On the far side of Greeneville you can pick up 321 there and have a straight shot in. Saves you from going out of you way to get on I81 to I40.

Going to TWIN CREEKS from I40 on 321 at NEWPORT would be best bet... Be sure to watch out for the sharp LEFT TURN just as you clear COSBY where 321/73 heads on towards Gatlinburg. If you miss the turn it might be some difficulty getting turned around. The road East of the sharp turn I think gets very narrow just a short distance from there at the COSBY CAMP GROUND in the NATL PARK entrance.

We go to GATLINBURG many time from Northern Neck VA and I81 to EAST I40 and pick up 321 At Newport is always our way in.

Sometimes we camp at RIVERSEDGE RV PARK in Pigeon Forge and we will take the 411 exit off I40 before you get to NEWPORT and then take TN449 which comes out in Pigeon Forge at the DOLLYWOOD EXIT light which is just a couple of blocks away from RIVERSEDGE RV PARK...

The traffic is real bad in the Sevierville/Pigeopn Forge areas on the weekends that the antique cars drag up and down the main blvd. Others times it is just heavy to bad...

Of course we always love to go visit the SMOKY MTN KNIFE WORKS on TN66 Sevierville Exit off of I40 WEST which is another must see place for you..
