Does anyone have a good resource tool to locate and find gas stations along the desert stretch of I-80 from Reno to Wells. then from Wells Nv to Idaho Falls.
my rig gets about 8 mpg and this would be the first time we travel far from home. i would like to know of a website that can tell me distances between gas stations on this stretch of roads. my concern is i pass a gas station and not make it to the next available one and run out of fuel

any help would be greatly appreciated.

These days there are so many gas stations in N. Nevada on 80 it really is not a problem. The only pre planning I do on that route is compare prices on gas buddy and plan my stops based on the best price. North from wells your only station will be in jackpot, nv.

On a semi-related story, I was in Yosemite a few years back and we were having lunch up on Tioga Pass when we met a German family that was touring the western US. They were headed out the back side of Yosemite and wanted to go to Las Vegas and then on to the Grand Canyon. They were in a rental car and since I was from the area they were asking me about how many gas cans they should get. They had already looked up a store in Lee Vining and they planned to stop to get gas cans to keep in the trunk because they were going to going through the great Mojave Desert. I think they thought it was like the old west movies. I told them to skip the gas cans, there were plenty of towns along their route. I got out a map and showed them all the places where they could get gas.

Major fueling points that I can remember, so I will add them.

Carlin, NV has a Chevron and a Flying J/Pilot. The truck stop is usually busy and usually has a line on the semi fueling lanes. The chevron has diesel available on the outer pumps and are accessible to larger rigs if not being blocked by a minivan.

An easy access fueling location in Elko is the East exit, on the north side (Sinclair? Chevron?) that has a large pad that could be easily navigated. The down side to fueling here is the uphill on-ramp. I would skip stopping in Elko altogether.

Wells, Nv is littered with fuel stations. Both major carriers on the south side of the interstate are easily navigated to high volume or light duty pumps.

North out of Wells to ID I cannot help with.

Put in Point A...to Point B (City, ST)

It will list all gas stations, the mileage, and an aerial view. Sometimes street view will show so you can see if you can get in and out of there.

We map them out before we take off and write down the Exits.

Even Hwy. 50 across Nevada has gas about every 100 miles. I-80 isn't an issue.

I've driven those roads dozens of times in a class "C" that got 7.7 mpg and had a 36 gallon tank. Even though I should have been able to go over 240 miles, I made it a habit to fill up at 200 miles. I never worried about getting gas, and I hope you don't either.

Interstate Route 80 across Nevada has fueling stations at least every 60 miles if not closer. Drive on the top half of your tank and fill up before driving to far into the night. You should have no issues.

How big of gas tank do you have?
Easy in & out at the Loves exit 48 also a Pilot but in & out is difficult, exit 106 Lovelock ( I would pass up Lovelock and get lower price in Winnemucca, big truck stop west of there might be at exit 168 or 173, Battle Mtn exit 229 or 230 then Elko exit 298, and Wells exit 352. On 93N from Wells to Jackpot is only 68 mi if you need more gas before getting into Idaho. Twin Falls, then there to Idaho Falls there are plenty of gas stops. Hope this helps. Dick

Gas prices are lower in Fernley then Reno, usually lowest in Winnemucca, if we are going East on I-80 I wait to fill up at Winnemucca, Gas Buddy today shows $2.03 lowest in Winnemucca. I use Gas Buddy a lot to plan trip gas stops.
