I'm not kidding, on the dash or front panel.

Use of screens on the front panel of the vehicle that are not part of the original design of the unit, mobile devices , computers , PDAs , radios , tablets , and global positioning systems are prohibited. Fines of 65-323 peso's .

I think that they are refering to the button that is under the Good Sam logo and RV.net on the blue band first word left, it says NEWEST.

And yes there are a lot of ignorant persons out in the world and all have a coment to air out, some have never travelled past the town they live in but can have a world wide opinion.

I don't see it as a problem. If you set up your gps while parked, no one is going to know you are looking at the screen while driving.

Here in Nuevo Leon, just like in Texas, driving and talking on a cell phone are illegal. I've been in the RGV recently and cellphones, Iphones and driving seem to be the norm as well as in Monterrey. Drives me nuts but I can't do two things at the same time anyway.

I wouldn't worry about it.

I'l bet I'm far from the only one who reads this on a tablet. Bumping the text up to a size that makes it comfortable to read means roughly half the topics listing is gone. Perhaps the moderators should make certain sections, like this one, have to be logged in seperately. That way only those who think the same and have gone to the same places can read and post here.

Is there anyway to block sections like this. I would hate to accidently post in the mexico forum again.

Sorry - none of this was directed at you specifically. You are apparently new to this forum while others are regulars and do not miss any opportunity to post what can only be defined as dumb remarks. Anyone who has anything of use to post is more than welcome - positive - negative - or otherwise. Lots of the regulars here post negative things about Mexico all the time - but they still return year after year. What many here object to is those who come on this forum day after day and find things to say about things they obviously know nothing about or could care less about. Perhaps if their posts provided some intelligent well thought out information that could be of use to anyone instead of just behaving like 10 year olds someone would welcome them.

I have been on this forum for over 7 years and have never heard of the
"newest" button - don't know what it is or where it is. I just looked again and cannot find it. I post on the Mexico forum because I have knowledge and experience to share with people and to help people to learn about Mexico. What possible reason can those who have no interest in this forum to visit it solely to make inane derogatory comments that are of no use to anyone? Juvenile?

I came across this thread because I have the forum set to "newest". So why can't folks post what they want even if you disagree with it? I did not know this was only pro mexico thread. I think the law is a money grab. I thought it was a county in California. Sounds like a California law. But I will never go to California either. But I believe I have the right to say they have some crazy laws.

So if there are places in the US that you don't like, I take it that you not only do not go there but you also do not say anything negative about the locale either. If you think I believe that, then I got some oceanfront property to sell you in Arizona (there must be an ocean somewhere.... they got all that sand).

Or is it that you think no one should say anything negative about anything. If so then perhaps you should practice what you preach.

I whole heartedly agree. I also just hit the newest button to keep up with all aspects of rving.

A lot of people don't realize that, using the NEWEST link at the top of the page, it lists all the newest topics in order, indicating what forum it's in last. No one gets to that point. Thus, although it appears that someone clicked into the Mexico and South America forum to come in and comment in this thread (as well as others), this is not always the case. That's why we see a lot of people in threads here talking about how they'll never travel to Mexico, with a lot of said replies to it asking "... then why are you in here?".

All posters are welcome to make a meaningful addition to any topic on any forum, but it would be nice if the lurking naysayers made a tiny bit of an effort to contribute substantively rather than just spending 6 seconds to quote the first one and add X2 to it.

Of course that would require them to have some practical knowledge about what is south of the border that attracts the likes of BrianSue year after year and I guess that is never going to happen.

Pity.

Well put. Its like people who don't vote then complain about who gets elected.

Nothing worse than armchair experts. It is also sad they do not want to expand their horizons. That is what is known as living, rather than just existing.

Most who eventually take the plunge & try RVing in Mexico end up wondering what took them so long.

Just do it. On your own, if nervous in a caravan. You won't regret it.

I passed the link to a native Spanish speaker to pick up the subtleties. Here are his comments:

Wow. Thatโ€™s a crazy regulation. It seems that itโ€™s only in effect in Jalisco state.

For what I read, it applies only to the driver, so I guess the GPS should be on the passenger side, and out of sight, preferably.

For the comments that I read, people are mad with the new law, and they think itโ€™s another money grab scheme from the government.
