I 75 thru Atlanta

I wanted to leave home (Knoxville Tn) on 24 November 2019 and head south for the winter. We are pulling a 40 ft fifth wheel and will be passing through Atlanta. I thought this was a good idea since the 24th is a Sunday and traffic would be light. However, my neighbor informed me that the Falcons have a home game that day and are playing Tampa. Now I'm thinking I should change my plans. I'm not a football person but guessing that I75 will be heavy with people going to the game.

Any additional thoughts on this?

If I was driving this route, I would take I-40 to Ashville, NC, then I-26 to Spartanburg, SC, then I-85 to Commerce, GA, then US Hwy 441 to Madison, GA, then I-20 one exit west to GA Hwy 83, then pick up I-75 at Forsythe, GA.

This route misses Atlanta, and has by-passes around Athens, GA and Madison, GA. There is some road construction around Greenville, SC. The two lane roads are often 4 lanes, and many times are 3 lanes. All are excellent roads with little traffic, and as a plus, the towns have great eating places and are very interesting.

Around Ahens, GA is a loop that can be a little confusing. It is marked GA Hwy 10 Loop and is also US Hwys 129 and 441. JUst get on the Loop and then the signage is plain.

I go straight through Atlanta. Game would not change my plans. I have also used 441 and 129 back to I-75.

441 is the only way I will go any more. I will Never go through ATL again. You can pick up 129 into Macon and then get on 75 there. It's a much more pleasant drive.

Or very early, before 9AM

Even during the weekdays, straight thru before 6AM.

The bypass sucks. Semis canโ€™t go straight thru anymore so once youโ€™re past the bypass the traffic was easy esp with no semis.

We always take the bypass. There is no straight stretch of level road going thru Atlanta and there are many entrances and exits to be wary of.
