Long Time Mexico Traveler Passes On

Our beloved Sally Mae ( Salome in Mexico) passed away in Tucson at the hospital yesterday. Sally came to our home in Kino 12 years ago. She was an avid RV'r and traveled all over Mexico, Canada and the USA. She was known to many in the Mexican community in Kino and had lots of aunts and uncles. Everyone loved Sally! My wife and I are in deep mourning on our trip back to Canada. There is a parallel story about Mexican vets but I am too stressed to write . Watch for that story next week.

We have been saying no more pets now since 2000. Just can't say no. We have two cats; 13 and 6. The 6 yr. was only supposed to stay for a week while we found him a home. We said no more dogs and it has been 10 years. I'm ready for a little rat to protect us in the rv!

Thanks all for the kind words. We are still heartbroken. We are on the Wal Mart lot in Ft. Morgan,co. Went into the store and almost got out the water dish for Sally! Although we had always said we would not have another kitty I am sure that will change. I know there are shelter cats who deserve some loving and we have lots to give.

I almost suggested that. One has to remember that it is a twenty year commitment.
On the other hand, when you see the ghost of a shadow where he/she use to be. . .it's hard.

Moisheh, My heart aches for you and your wife over the loss of your beloved companion. Since DH and I have been together and RV'ing, we have lost four beloved ones and we miss each of them every day. I'm so happy to read that you are already thinking that one out there needs you and you are so right. That's what happened to us, one right after the other and we didn't regret a one. Bless you all.

Most heartfelt condolences!

Folks who have never had an animal "best-buddy" don't realize just how strong the bond becomes. My pal passed to the great boneyard in the sky 25-years ago and I still miss him.

I will have to second what Stan said. When Sasha's sister passed 2 years ago, my wife swore not to get another. Yet, this past winter, we happened to stop at a local adoption event here on my sandbar. Soon as she got out of the car, one of the cat's started meowing up a storm at her, so she went to say hello as I wandered off to see the dogs. After a bit of time, I was curious where my better half vanished off to, so I went looking. An lo n'behold she was still with that first cat. It went from meowing to purring in minutes of her coming up. An would not let her go, everytime she tried to walk away the purrs got louder..lol.

Needless to say, we took her home. An Mrs.Sassy is now a loved member of the household. As we like to say..she chose us. An she's almost a spitting image for Dusty who had passed 2 years prior, with the exception of color. Dusty was black, an Sassy is grey/whiteish.

She fit right on in with the rest. Sasha welcomed her with open..ahh paws I guess. Ha ha! An the dogs like her to, an she likes chasing them. If want to see an amusing site it's a cat chasing a beagle an a lab mix around the house. ๐Ÿ™‚

Sorry for the novel, but perhaps it'll bring a smile or two.

Moisheh, you probably won't have to adopt another cat, one (or 2) will adopt you first. That happened to us with Hobo.

Moisheh,

My condolences on your loss. We just went through a similar situation with the wife's cat. Sasha had been with her longer then I have! Matter of fact, she told me going with me depended on if the two(at the time) cats liked me. Hah ha. I passed the test obviously, but..I was worried!

She was 13 or 14, an I'm glad I got to enjoy the last 7 years with her, but she was a momma's kitty through an through. It's been tough for the wife, an me, to deal with but, like your baby, she's in a better place now. Likely sitting about lazing in a nice sun beam an waiting on us to catch up with them.

It never does get easier as another poster said, but it helps to share your love with others, it did for me an the wife at lest. You'll always have the memories an good times.

Again, our condolences on your loss, never easy to say good bye to a furry family member.

Pets often become family members.
They trust and depend on us much as a child would.
Their passage is not without grieving.

Ouch! Very sorry to read about this. We brought our very aged kitty to our new house in the mountains from "the Big City"; we knew he wasn't going to last long, but it was still devastating when he passed away (at home).
