Northeast trip

Coming from IN across I84E,I91N to Greenfield,Mass-202E-I495N to Amesburg,Mass-110E to 1N to Ellsworth,MA. Will be pulling a 31'TT anything to watch for road,bridge or tunnel wise? Thanks Jerry

We just do I95 going north. Be aware of road conditions... I've given up trying to estimate if they will be good or bad. Many times if you ask on these forums right before you go, you can get good updated road condition info. Speaking of road conditions -- watch out for bridges. I am not sure of the reasoning, but recently it seems that the highway departments all over the Northeast beautifully repave the highway, except for bridges! They seem to enjoy leaving the bridges unpaved, in really bad condition, for fun. Just be ready for cruising on a smooth highway and then hitting bumps over a bridge (I assume there is some reason for this, I just can't figure it out).

Have you been to Acadia before? It is pretty cool to go to the top of Cadillac Mountain to see the sunrise (first spot on the continental USA to see sunrise). Also, you can night hike - really neat to go see (and hear) Thunder Hole at night.

Unfortunately the Maine Turnpike/95 is a toll road. Very easy run, though. We've been going up that way for years. If you do take that route, your GPS may route you via 295 in Portland. That takes you through the city. There are some interesting water views and if you hit it at non-rush hour, then it's not a bad run. Otherwise, just stay on 95 even though it's a few extra miles.

Thanks Crowe. Yes Amesbury is what I meant and I just don't like tunnels.Looks like I'll have to pay some tolls, sometimes it's the best way.Thanks for the help. Jerry

Thank Crowe. Yes I mean Amesbury and just don't like tunnels nor do I like toll road but some times the best way. Will be heading out in the morning ending up at Acadia Nat'l Park. Thanks for help. Jerry

I'm assuming you mean Amesbury. Unless you need to be in Amesbury, I would go straight up 495 to 95 to 395 then 1A to Ellsworth. 110 and 1N all the way up the coast will be fairly slow with lots of traffic. If you are looking for ocean views you will be disappointed as there are few, if any. There are no tunnels on that route. Are you concerned about going under a bridge or over a bridge?
