I want to thank all of you for your input. I left Olympia after having breakfast with my son and his young family.
I hit the weather window right on the money. No rain or snow during the entire trip. Appears the snow then rain came in Today.
Made the 22 hr drive with 2 3 hr naps in 28 hours.
Home safe and sound.
That's one way to do it. " with 2 3 hr naps"
I guess they call you Lightning Driver for a reason.

Personally I would take I 84 to Boise and then 93 south, especially if you only have 2 days Just be prepared to stop and hang out if weather comes in on you. Right now, going I84 you have less chance of hitting rain than on I 5

look at "tripcheck" for Oregon. Main problem would be the siskiyous near Ashland Oregon
Hot true this time.
Portland to Eugene received an ice and snow storm. Some people going home last night in the Portland area had a hard time getting home. I heard from fellow workers up there that the 6 mile drive took 4 hours.
Last night and part of today was "chain required" on I-5 from Albany to Wa.
The moisture is done, but it's going to be close to freezing through the weekend.
I'm watching the weather too. I live in the Eugene / Springfield area. I need to go to Albany and Corvallis for work tomorrow. Then to Oregon City (next to Portland) on Saturday for a Christmas gathering with the grandkids.
Stay tune to this channel for updates.
