While in Valdez would HIGHLY recommend the cruise on the LuLu Belle. This is a 75' yacht and Captain Fred has been coming to Alaska with his boat for 30+ years and doing cruises to the glaciers and surrounding area. Unlike the normal cruise boat this is his and his wife's personal boat with oriental carpets and lots of woodwork.
Have been on other glacier/wildlife cruises, this is the best. He also has a free, worship service on Sunday at 8am, non-denominational out in the bay.

We arrived in Valdez yesterday to stay until Sunday. The weather is beautiful as well as the location. We are in Bayside, site 5, kind of pricey but the views are unbelievable! Spent a couple of extra days in Anchorage getting the dash A/C repaired. It will come in handy crossing Kansas in late August!
Fjord tour tomorrow. The drive into Valdez is fantastic.

We will just miss you in Valdez..We arrive at Eagle's Rest on Wed and stay for 5 nights. Travel safe!

Hi ... Hjudge49 and CA Traveler We are in Seward at Stoney Creek C11 until the 21st (if we can get our brakes fixed before then). Really enjoying this bucket list trip Hope to run into you ; )

Hey all you Stoney Creek people. We are here in Stoney Creek til tomorrow morning. Haven't been online much since we haven't been getting very good reception even with our mifi. We are in C13. Just two doors down from you.
Leave tomorrow for Williwaw campground in Portage. We have reservations for seven Glaciers Restaurant in Alyeska. Been there before and it was wonderful. A little bit of $$$ but well worth it.

Being prepared to take care of yourself for a few days is good thing ... roads can be closed without warning. And being ready to adapt your plans is also a good thing.

June 2012 the Alaska Highway near Rancheria was closed for four days due to a major washout. Groceries became sparse in Whitehorse because none of the transport trucks were getting through. Some gas stations ran low too.

Best option is to tow a boat behind your Class A :B

DW and I are planning our trip next year but from reading the posts here, and the news of floods, I'm wondering if we need to trade our little class A in for a tank. :h :B

I guess this trip will not be for the "less adventurous" :W

We are in Haines after a beautiful, sunny trip on the ferry from Skagway. Such a great place we may stay 3 days instead of two. We are in the Haines Hitch-Up RV Park--the nicest we have stayed in anywhere on the trip--Site 40. Anyone else nearby?
