I have a legalized Mexican plated car waiting for me in Melaque. Can I get it registered and insured in my name with only a 6 month tourist visa. I have investigated getting a permanent residency visa at a consulate in Canada but it requires a visit in person which will not be too convenient for me this year.
Thanking you for any information anyone might have.
Lew from what I know as a permanent resident, you can't do it. Every car or vehicle I buy, I have to show residency. That said, it doesn't stop you from driving the car. Mexico insures by vehicle under one name (as well as the title) so anyone can drive the car with owner's consent.
