Brand new at this so bear with me. Any comments appreciated about 395 out of Reno/Sparks up through Susanville, then 36 to 44 to 89 over into Mount Shasta. We are towing a 35 ft. 5th wheel with a F-350.

Just did this the opposite way. Not a bad drive. BTW 40 footer towing.

I have a vacation house in the mountains north of Susanville so I have traveled those roads many times. Without using the map app to compare miles, I think your plan is the most efficient. And 44 is a nice ride. Real nice rest stop about 15 miles north of where 44 and 36 intersect. The only other thought I had was 139 to 299. I think it would be a longer ride, but is also very pleasant. If you go that way, stop in at the "Oney" in Adin for a burger. They are excellent.

It could be hot, pushing 110 in Medford this weekend.

Been there done that many times. The only real mountain pass is leaving California and entering Oregon on IR 5. Go for it.

Roads are all good through there but include some steep climbs and downhills plus lots of curves. Just take your time and enjoy one of the country's prettiest drives! We've taken it many times with 37' MH.
