What is the best/easiest road program to use that will follow my trip and leave crumbs so I can go back and look at the route after the trip? I have Street Atlas 2011 and am working on a cross country trip, West to East on Highway 30 and back Route 66.
Thanks.

Thank you all. I have used Good Sam Trip Planner to lay out the trip into sections. It's good. I have read the reviews for the GPS units Trip Planner can download to but the reviews are not favorable. If I am understanding, use the GPS in the Street Atlas to have a bread crumb trail is the answer? Sad.
I greatly appreciate the feedback. Happy Trails.

Streets & Trips was the answer once upon a time. if you search, there was a thread a while back on replacements. I kept a laptop up for a crosscountry to have that breadcrumb feature.

I'm back to using Good Sam. The new version is an improvement as far as I can see.

This Summer we will be going Florida; Gettysburg; Boston; Mt Washington; Bar harbor; (back to Boston to fly the grandson home) Bay of Fundy; Quebec City; Montreal; Baltimore; and home.

I can save individual segments or combinations. Shift overnight stops back and forth to balance driving distances. Specify routes by setting waypoints, etc.

I have been looking at RV Parky it let's you set a route and save it for future reference. It has places you can stay Walmart or campgrounds fuel, I am planning a trip from Florida to Grand Canyon.

What you have is about it. Used to use S&T, but alas, it is no more. Use the GPS and leave a trail.
