Okay...I know 2017 hasn't even taken off, but those of you that remember me from Roll Call 2013 know that I plan well ahead of time, lol.
4 years is way too long to go without being in Alaska so we are heading up again. This time my sister (Barbara), her husband (Pat) and their baby poodle (Koko) are going with us with their Bounder. We are planning to leave from Bullhead City, AZ around the end of May.
Would love to get a roll call started if anyone else out there is as much of an early planner as I am.
For those of you heading up this year, have a safe and wonderful trip and maybe you will enjoy it so much that you will join us in 2018. :W

Welcome to our new Alaska travel buddies !
Again don't forget to read up on the sticky at the front of the forum and don't forget your signs, so we can find you

We are really going to have a great group going this year. Don't forget to make your signs so we can spot each other. Basically last time I just took some poster board from the dollar store and placed a few pictures and the words "Roll Call 2018". You can also post your name and CC name. Some (last time) placed it in their tow car window and some placed it in their MH window. We met some wonderful people. Usually we would meet up in the campgrounds and the sign helped us to spot each of us.

Can you add us to the roll call 2018? We'll be leaving from Dallas, TX at the end of May. Driving a 2001 Chinook Baja 4x4. First time to Alaska. Can't wait!!

Us too, and we fly in from Oz to DFW on 21st May to get our MH out of storage - but via Niagara so Betty can cross it off her list, with another slight detour to Tuk and back before we get into Alaska via Top of the World. One of those "it's the journey, not the destination" trips as all of ours are.

I may delay my departure a week or two. We were walking our dogs on Monday and found a puppy in the road. The vet says her injuries are consistent with either being hit by a car or thrown from one. My guess would be that she was hit by one. She doesn't seem to be very street smart. She's been spayed and is in good shape overall. No heartworm, well fed, no fleas and soft feet. She appears to have been well taken care of and an indoor dog. We're searching for the owner, but no luck so far. I want to make sure the owner has an opportunity to claim her before I leave.

Well, tomorrow is the day we head North. You will know us when you see our pick-up because our sign is a carry over from 2016! (To cheap to buy another one!)

Hope everyone is having a good trip and seeing lots of animals!

Is anyone posting a blog this year? If so the URL would be appreciated.

Hey All! We left for AK last May 15th. Best RV trip ever! Period, Hands down. Whitehorse has two great museums. Don't miss the Sign Forest--it's just neat. Watch for animals, but they disappeared after we got into AK (except for little red squirrels). The first RV park in Tok (right side, can't recall name) has a good wash place. Anchorage has a Costco with their rotisserie chicken and gas. There is NO RV parking in parking lots in the city and RV parks are limited. We really enjoyed the Anchorage Zoo, it's a different type of venue.
Seward and it's waterfront RV parking is good. You won't beat the view. The first of June means the rates double.
Soldotna has a Fred Meyers that allowed a couple days parking and had sani huts. There are several camping places in the area and good services.
Homer--the Spit was unique to be sure. We scored some parking spots right at the Fishing Hole, dry camping, right on the water! The end of the Spit has a fishing area near some sort of fish processing buildings on stilts, but the fish were supposedly wormy. Don't forget the Salty Dawg-try to find our dollar bill with Ray & Karen written on it.
Denali has the best camping 29 miles in the park. A note; about 5 miles North of the little village (Subway, ice cream, T shirts, etc) was a RV park on the left of the highway, but the water was brown!
You All have a blast! The trip was the best.

Stickdog, If you have the time, a visit to Custer State Park, in SD is a good stop. The animal sightings on the loop road is guaranteed to be a great experience.

We've been there many times going up to I90 in ND it's been 50 years since I was last through there and the DW never has. Catch the black hills on the way back in the fall.

There's a herd of wild donkeys there that hang out near a stream. They're little beggers and love carrots and apples.
