Going from Beaumont to Arvin,ca. GPS says go up thru Palmdale thru tehachapi . My ?? How is hyw 138 between I15 and hywzy 14 near Palmdale???? 40 ft mohome.????

Easy drive. You can take the 138 to I5 and drop down the grapevine to Arvin or take the 14 to the 58 and catch the Arvin cutoff.

HWY is good...easy drive.

Wind can be an issue

Idiot drivers are BIGGEST issue.......

It does have the nicknames of 'Blood Alley' and 'Death Trap Highway'

So PAY ATTENTION to those coming from opposite direction AND the bozos behind you!!

138 is a much easier pull than Cajon pass.

Mostly flat, straight road, I pull our 5er that route every few years.

Tehachapai is not a bad route either although a bit more curvy on west down slope than the Grapevine north of the 138 junction.

Flat desert for the most part. I think wind could be the biggest issue out there.

I take that route to and from Quartzsite every year. If you're nervous about it consider picking up the 395 to the 58
