Wisconsin Highway 23 from Iowa to the Dells

Hi All, I am mapping a trip from Iowa to the Wisconsin Dells. I plan on taking Highway 151 to Wisconsin Highway 23 up to the Dells. Does anyone know this road, condition/low clearances? Or should I pick another route. State hiways worry me and maybe I should take another way into the Dells? Thanks!

We have taken this route a few times and while I do not recall any low clearances, the highway itself is pretty rough. I would recommend taking Highway 78 from Mount Horeb to Prairie Du Sac. It is a much better route and will not add to your travel time.

Thanks, we followed your advice today and found that Hwy 78 north of Mount Horeb for several miles was quite rough but then after Black Earth the route was good.

23 is really nice. We take it from Dodgeville to the Dells when staying at Gov. Dodge State Park. I do not recall any low clearances either. There are however lots of steep hills.
