A week in Top Sail

Just got back, and we had a wonderful time.

While a man made the statement that he has been going for the last 5 years and he can see a decline in the park (mainly the concrete pads) we found it to be very nice and centrally located for our trip.

We did notice a few sites that did have broken pads, including ours (site #127) this in no way would deter us from going back.

While several of the sites are IMO kinda close together, we waited 10 months for our site which gave us no immediate next door neighbor to the right.

We drove thru St Andrews and weren't very impressed...but again, that's only our opinion.

If you are a beer drinker....The Growler Garage is just 3 miles down the bike trail. 40 different craft beers on tap.
The owner is an air brush artist and has several examples of his work on motorcycle tanks displayed inside.

I also recommend Goat Feathers. My wife and I go there very year in July for our anniversary. The food is very good and the staff is very friendly. The seafood market on the first floor has pretty good prices on their fresh seafood as well.

We will be in site 129 in 10 days. We loved or first trip there last year. The beaches are a step up to the gulf beaches on the west coast of FL. Clearer water, larger surf and fewer people.

We missed eating at the Donut Hole last time, but have it on the agenda this time around. Might do Stinky's again; pricey but good food.

My goal is to fish and relax.

Thank you all for the advise and reports. We will be there the 3rd week of September and are very excited to finally be able to go. Hoping to find some decent fresh seafood to grill. We will take out bikes-thanks for that suggestion too!

We have the place for you! It's between Topsail and Grayton Beach State Park. It's called Goatfeathers Seafood. It's a restaurant with a seafood market in the bottom of it. We went and bought oysters from them. They even steamed them and opened each oyster for us. No extra charge. We originally went to a place out there on 98/30 that looked nice, but their prices were outrageous and were kind of rude. Found the Goatfeathers and was very pleased. Prices good also. Give them a try. Less than 6 miles down 30A from Topsail.

It would have cost a small fortune for the 5 of us. Think they were $85 each for the week.

Just saw one place that said beach cruisers only $55/week...and they give 10% discounts. So you are looking at $50/week. Not bad. Of course you could go down to the walmart and bought new bikes for just a little more.

Blaylock's in Destin is a great place to pick up seafood.
For some other ideas on things to do in and around the park, here are our trip reports from 2013 (Topsail Hill SP Trip Report (2013)) and from 2014 (Topsail Hill SP Trip Report (2014)).

Have a great time!
