Stay at the North Pole Resort, Jim, Mary Ellen and family run a nice quiet, clean campground. There is a A&W, soft ice cream and town park with concerts close by. We always stay in the 100 Acres section, no pool, no children just quiet. KOA down the road is very dusty at times.

We came up from Virginia and stayed there. Very nice CG.

We like Little Wolf Campground in Tupper Lake when we're in that area. It's run by the town and has full hookups. Campground Reviews (formerly RV Park Reviews) lists several other parks in the general Lake Placid area.

There is a KOA as well as a privately owned CG at the base of road that leads up to Whiteface Mtn summit. Believe the name of town the CG is in is North Pole NY and name of CG is 100 acre Woods(?). Both CG's are about a 12-18 minute drive to LP.

I assume by "hydro" you mean electric hookups?

One good resource for finding information about public campgrounds is the campadk campsite photo database (even though it's gotten a bit choked with advertising of late). There are a couple NY state run campgrounds in and around the Adirondacks that have electricity available.
