Spicoli,

It would be helpful if you tell us what you mean by "tri-state" area. You mention PA and NY. That would be a bi-state area, no?

And there are many more areas that people call "tri-state.

For example. I live in the Maryland, DC, Virginia tri-state area.

People that live on Maryland's Eastern Shore live in the Delmarva (Delaware, Maryland Virginia) tri-state area.

Precisely. Which is why it is always wise and helpful to put the states' names in the thread topic when posting. Requests will get more helpful responses.

Thanks so much, TonyandKaren!! I was beginning to despair of ever being able to afford to camp ANYWHERE without paying fees that would break me. Thanks, again for your help...I'm sure glad I found this helpful site.

I'm new at this forum...and I'm also pretty new at RVing. I have one of those federally-issued Access Passes (I'm a 100% diabled veteran and I'm 67 years old). I was hoping to find a locations somewhere on Public Lands where I can temporarily park my Class C motorhome (undisturbed) without having to pay a camping fee. I was under the impression that one can camp on Public lands in National Forests, Army Corps of Engineers properties, BLM properties, etc. free-of-charge. Am I dreaming? Is such camping allowed on Public Lands?

You're not dreaming! It really is allowed. You won't find many BLM camping spots east of the Mississippi but there are lots of national forests. Check this map - http://www.fs.fed.us/locatormap/ You'll have to click through a little to find what you want. Click on the forest icon, then the "visit" link, then on the left side of the page click on "recreation", then "camping and cabins" , then "dispersed camping".

Finding camping spots on BLM land is similar - http://www.blm.gov/wo/st/en/prog/Recreation.html

Try this one for the Army Corps of Engineers - http://corpslakes.usace.army.mil/visitors/

I started figuring how many tri-state areas there are in the US. I gave up, too many.

I got my spot up on the WVA/VA Wooded state line near a place call FLAGPOLE KNOB fed by a very small Forest Road. This is all SouthWest of Harrionsburg VA. Check google search for FLAGPOLE KNOB VA - select 'images' when it loads up.

Have to cross a small rock bed stream to get there. Perfect spot for me... My OFF-ROAD Camper looks pretty good sitting back in there under some tress...

Check the state parks for the states of your interest. You can do a search for the state park systems of the respective states. Also search http://www.woodalls.com/

It may be helpful for what you want.

Or, do a search on Boondocking
