We begin our journey south tomorrow. About time too. Predicted low for our area Sunday night is -17. I hope to get as far as San Antonio by Sunday night. Stay at SIL and head to the Valley on Monday. She will stay at her sister's for a week or two. I'll be busy the first few days getting everything back to normal.

Yeah, it's a bummer, 40+ degrees here today and below zero tomorrow night! Have a safe trip.

It's a good thing that I'm driving the van. Check engine light came on in the Ford. Diagnosed as a bad DEF pump. New one ordered and installed yesterday. Check engine light came on again before I got home with it. Took it back and diagnosed as a bad DEF pump. The new one won't prime. Two weeks ago during a cold spell got warning light "Decreased Power" and "Low Fuel Pressure". Took to dealer and low and behold the suppose winter blend fuel that I had just put in jelled. Major chain station claimed that it had all been changed over in November.

Here in Des Moines Iowa it's forecasted to get down to -6 degrees F on Sunday night. Charles City Iowa (north of us) is forecasted to get down to -15 degrees F on Sunday night. It's a narrow blast of cold air coming down from Canada that should move on easterly and northerly by Wednesday. Looks like Detroit Michigan gets spared the really really cold air. Be thankful!

We've still got two weeks till we can leave. Can't wait to go, but our livestock sitters won't be available till then. Have a safe trip!
