I thought there was a camp ground down town Memphis by the river, but appears Im mistaken. Need a place taxi close to Beal St so we can party on Beal St and take a taxi and not worry about how much we have had to drink

My in laws I've in Memphis, and won't leave. They are over mid 80s. It is dangerous and they will admit it. I went to a Walmart and got scared, before I got out. I would not go back except for her elderly parents. It's 700 miles from us and my DW is an only chid. Makes the situation very hard. I would avoid Memphis. When we got married 46 years ago it was a neat place to go. Today it is almost lawless. Be careful.

I would go to Tom Sawyer if it hasn't flooded recently. That Mississippi mud will stick to your coach like glue. Use caution going to downtown Memphis at night. It's a great city, but requires you to be more alert.

Memphis is really bad. I went out our first night unarmed in Memphis to Beale St., never after that. We have no plans on returning. We spend our time in Nashville instead.

Having been a Memphis resident for 35 years who now lives south of the border (in Mississippi), I second all the cautions about staying IN Memphis. It's a shame, but the area surrounding Graceland is quite dangerous. Memphis has exceeded Chicago in it's homicide rate. Beale Street can be a fun place, especially if you like blues. Just be mindful of your surroundings and stick to the well-lit and patrolled areas.

My wife wanted to see Graceland so we stayed a Graceland rv park. Got there late in the afternoon stayed that night saw Graceland the next day then got the heck out of there. They refunded me my other two nights I was suppose to stay.
After just spending five days in Nashville and parting every night on the strip then going to Beale street what a dump.

We liked Tom Sawyer, Graceland RV park was horrible the endless gun shots at night kept me awake. Sounded like a war zone.

X2 on Tom Sawyers CG, West Memphis.

IMHO the ONLY place I would stay in that area.
I would NOT stay anywhere else 'IN' Memphis or West Memphis it is that bad.

And side note: Use THEIR directions off their website to the CG. Do NOT use your GPS. Don't ask me how I know why NOT to use the GPS.:W

There was a campsite located near the bridge close to Beale St. It closed 18 months ago. It was a fenced in parking lot in not too nice an area. Tom Sawyer in W. Memphis is a good choice. Use Uber for transportation - cheaper than a cab.

Friends of mine stayed at at RV park near Graceland. Took a cab to Beal Street. Check www.rvparkreviews.com. I think the name is Graceland RV Park.
Tom Sawyer is across the river. Might be costly for a cab.
The Agri Center is nice, but still a far off.
