Desoto state park in Alabama

My wife and I are in the process of planning out trips for next year. We are highly considering this park in mid October. What I would like to know is there anybody that has any pics of the campground showing the sites? We can't make our mind up between the pull thoughs or back in sites. We would like to know which one is a little more private between them. We like to have trees in between us and the next camper. Thanks for any replies.

Thank you Jayco sounds like it could be anywhere on the scale. The mean would make it a little chilly.

Having to change plans looks like it will be the week of thanksgiving that we go to this park. What is the weather normally like up there at the end of November?

You will most likely be to late for leaf season.
Desoto has 50 amp electric, water, sewer & cable. Cloudland's sites are more private. They are double 30 amp electric & water.

The back in sites are nice. This is a beautiful park. That should be a good time to catch the leaves at or just past peak.

Thanks for all the replies looks like we will be getting a back in site and we are planning on going next November. The 9th though the 14th. Ron we will ride over and check out cloud land canyon while up there on this visit. Will the leaves be changing in early November or will we be to late? Planning the trips is half the fun. We have a total of 6 trips planned a couple still finalizing.

DESOTO STATE PARK

One of my favorite camp grounds...

Also love the CLOUDLAND CANYON STATE PARK just up the I59 road a few miles at the TRENTON GA exit. This is also up on LOOKOUT MTN...

Another great State Park is http://gastateparks.org/CloudlandCanyon. It is 50 miles north of Desota Falls. On the same mountain, (Lookout) just in Georgia instead of Alabama.

One of our favorite places to stop in Qct. on our way to the mountains for fall colors. Like others have said you make reservations for pull-through or back in sites and pick your site when you get there. There are really no sites where you don't see your neighbors but the are spaced well.

No Pics but the pull-thu sites are lined up next to each other, some privacy but not much. The back-ins are very nice and lot's of privacy. Not sure how it is now but last time we were there you simply had a site type reserved and drove through to select the site.

Go with a back in site. They do not assign you a particular site, just find one you like and hang the sign on the post. The pull through have zero privacy. This is a awesome park that was renovated recently. I cannot remember the site we usually use but it across from the shared lot and backs to the woods. You'll love it there.

One more thing. Its a pretty good haul up to the campground from the interstate around one mile of a good 7-8% grade from nearly dead stop. and one more from the campground office to the campground.

Have fun and Happy Camping
