I don't know what your definition of close is, but perhaps you might want to think about overnighting the dog at a facility that can take care of its needs.
Not an optionโฆโฆ.no boarding facility will give him his food and insulin at 5 a.m. and 5 p.m. They also will not let me pick up the dog on a Sundayโฆ..I guess it is a liability issue with a dog that has medical needs like diabetes.
I'm going to check with the DAC first. I wouldn't need to spend the night anywhere in downtown I just need a "safe" place to park the coach from 5:00 p.m. to about 10 p.m. Once the reception is over I can easily drive the coach to a walmart in the suburbs or a campground. Don't really need to plug in anywhere the generator is fine for the time I am there.
I wouldn't hesitate to go to a motel and simply drive the car but I'm having trouble finding a downtown motel that is pet friendlyโฆ.especially with a big newfoundland.
