Since Fort Wilderness is booked up around Christmas of 2013, I am trying to find a place to stay with my 42' coach. Does anyone know of a nice resort very close to Disney World ? Needs to be able to accept small dogs and the grand baby of course. Thanks all.

Lots off good options off disney as I have seen these threads before. But as already suggested, find a reservation off Disney, but keep trying. Slots open up all the time and you will likely be able to get in.

I think you should plan 25-45 minutes one-way from Magic Kingdom. Here's why. It takes about five minutes to walk to the MK entrance. Then you could have up to a 20 minute wait for transportation. The boat ride takes 15 minutes, or the bus trip takes 10 minutes. Plus, once at the Fort, you may need to take an internal bus to get to your site, which adds another 5-15 minutes wait/ride time. The trip from Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom is similar.

Quick question: we will have our dog with us. Any of these close enough to run to the RV park to let her out and go back (toMagic Kingdom?) more than once during the day?
Thanks!

From Magic Kingdom to your site is maybe 20-30 minutes one way during the day. Give an hour to get back and forth if the boats are running decent. From the other parks, its a haul and we just stay at FW vs. trying to go back to any of the other parks.

We stayed at the KOA in Kissimmee. Long pull thrus, pool, pet and grandkid friendly. Directly across the street from a Sam's Club. Not cheap but a safe clean place to stay. BTW, just returned from a stay in Ft Wilderness. I hate all of those golf carts. You can hardly get around anywhere for all of the carts. Just too many. JHMO.

Keep trying FW, on the phone. We've been there when friends try to book for later in the week with nothing avail. and the place was 20% full at best. Disney does some weird things. Also, online... if it says nothing available for a week, add a week, then make it an entire month. Many times we can't book say thanksgiving weekend, but we can book all of November. Go figure... Anyway, we've booked a month and then a week later, change the res. and drop the extra days.

Best Friends Pet Care has doggy daycare. The cost seems pretty reasonable compared to taking 90 minutes out of the day to go back to the rv.

Unfortunately, no room at the in, err, Fort Wilderness. So Sherwood Forest in Kissimmee it is. Looks nice, but not as close. Working on the dog situation.

If you are staying at Fort Wilderness, you can take the boat back to Fort Wilderness from the magic Kingdom. If you are staying in a preferred site (loop 300 for pets) or any of the premium loops that allow pets that are near the "Settlement", you can easily walk there from the boat. Otherwise you can take a bus from the Settlement to the campsite. If you go to one of the other parks, the bus will drop you at the Outpost and you can pick up another bus from there to your campsite.

Some of the other non-Disney campsites are fairly close, but you're looking at a 30 minute drive or so, possibly fighting traffic (depending on how close to Christmas you'll be traveling). If you don't mind taking that time, they should be fine.

Tropical Palms or Lake Magic are your best bet. LL is about 40 mins from Main Gate, camping is back a long road in the park and gate is locked at night so have to access that also. Lake Magic is less expensive then TP but being near Old Town is nice. Thousand Trails is open to the public but Christmas is usually pretty full.
