Driving to Disneyland experiences?

Please share with us your suggestions & experiences with driving into Disneyland/Anaheim from the east coming out of the Riverside area. Where did you stay the night before? How bad was it accessing the RV park? Was it convenient, or did you wish you had rented a hotel instead and left the rig elsewhere? Have any of you parked the rig outside of the immediate area instead and rented a hotel? If so, where did you leave it? If we do this, we would be staying at the Anaheim RV resort just across the street from the edge of Disneyland. Thanks!

Stay in the RV and I recommend the campgrounds nearby. Orangeland RV is about 5 miles via car and we also stay at the Anaheim Resort RV Park which is closer and has a shuttle that costs a few bucks per person.

We live 45 minutes from Disneyland and we sometimes drive for the day other times spend the night.

Since we are fulltiming, we will need a safe place to leave it if we go the hotel route... We have been to Disneyland several times, but the RV adds a layer of concern as we are pretty new to this!

We had not been in close to 30 years, so last year when relatives from the east coast visited, we opted to get the So Calif pass( only slightly more than one day admission). The only reason I mention this is that we plan so stay south of Disney next month and drive the toad in for a day here or there. If you avoid heavy traffic times, doing a 20-30 mile commute isn't too bad. Either way, have fun.

I've done it both in a RV and hotelling it. In this case I would much rather stay across the street at the Best Western and leave the RV at home. It's just a lot easier getting around. Heck, the BW is only a 5 minute walk to the main gate!

Been to Disneyland in our RV several times and dozens without. We took our 40 footer to the front door of the Grand Californian hotel. They unloaded us and a nice young man in a Cadillac escorted me across the street to park in the Disneyland hotel parking lot. They put me along a fence in the back. Took my time getting things set for leaving and the ride back took a couple of minutes. The Grand Californian is beautiful. The original Disneyland hotel is great fun and you walk to either park. There is the Paradise Pier across from the Grand Californian and it is a Disney hotel as well.

If you can stay in any of the park hotels it will be a memory and you never leave the magic going back to an RV park.

A nice RV park nearby is the Orangeland. There are a couple of others as mentioned. Not a fan of using a shuttle. If you have a pov take it right to the parking lot and ride the tram to the park. You can come and go if you need a mid day break.

My memories of driving down in LA do not include an RV.

Some clifirication might help. Are you asking about go into Fort Wilderness campground with you camper or just driving into Disney?

Never mind. I just noticed Disneyland. Not Disney World.

Greetings from the Olympic Peninsula, neighbor!

I took my Granddaughter to Disneyland a few years back. We RVed down but stayed in a hotel across the street from the park. They let us park the rig in the lot. Did this because we thought it would be more convenient/easier. WRONG!

It was "across from the park", all right, but it seemed like miles to get to the ENTRANCE. I found out later that places a teeny bit farther away actually had shuttle service- buses dropped folks off right at the ticket booths.

If I do it again, I'm going to make sure that wherever I stay, that transport's available. Got enough territory to cover on foot once inside the gate.

Have fun!

I just spent a week up in Renton, WA and have to say I found the traffic up there worse than in the Anaheim area. The City of Anaheim has done a good job of making it easy to get into the Disneyland area. That being said...you want to avoid any commute times. So during the week try to hit Anaheim between 10AM and 2PM.

Using the Anaheim RV resort is the best solution vs staying out of the area and driving in. I always prefer my RV over a hotel.
