Plan on making a trip to the Holiday Travel Resort in Emerald Isle North Carolina in July. I've never been there before and can't find to many reviews on the Net. looking for site Info. (good spots, bad spots) Good campground? and would you go back again? Kid Friendly?
Spacious sites or are they on top of one another? any tips and recommendations would be welcomed. Thanks and Happy RV'ing!

It looks a little high, but I'm not sure of what competition they have. Apparently people are willing to pay it as they keep their rates around that price and are still in business.

We live less than 90 minutes from this park but have never been due to the high cost. $100+ a night in summer is CRAZY. IMAO. We had rather go down to Tabor City or Myrtle Beach.

We try to go off season as this is the best time for pricing as well as it is not too crowded. They are the only campground left on the island that is ocean front with a 5 star rating and I guess they feel it is ok for them to charge exorbitant prices. That being said, they are still cheaper than a cottage ocean front.
If you do not care about being ocean front, you may want to try this campground. They do have waterfront sites with some pull in sites. They are a little remote but it is a wonderful campground.

We've been there a couple times to visit friends/family after Labor day. It's cheaper then and there were no crowds and the weather was still nice. As far as sites the perimeter is mostly homers. The sites closest to the ocean (yellow on site map) don't have an ocean view as it is blocked by the dunes. They are however closest to the beach. Best ocean views are about halfway up the hill (Red zone on site map).

Been going to Emerald Isle for 40 years and now live three miles away on the mainland. Needless to say, you pay to be on the ocean, but it's a lovely unspoiled beach. My brother in Cape Carteret owns a rental "cottage" on the island, and the whole family comes for a week.

Another possibility, maybe to split your stay and bring down the overall cost, is the National Forest Service Cedar Point Campground just across the bridge from the island off highway 58. Electric hookups, water available, dump station, takes reservations. It's very woodsy, has hiking trails over the marsh, kayak launch. We often stay there just to check our systems before making a long trip.

Your kids will enjoy MacDaddy's and the Golphin Dolphin on the mainland at intersection of 58 and 24. Upscale bowling alley, mini golf, go-Karts, driving range, etc and video center, family oriented. It's at a shopping area with the best food store in the area, Lowe's Foods, as well as Lowe's Hardware, Walgreens, McDonald's, Hardees, etc.

Send me a private message if you have any questions. Enjoy EI.

We've stayed there twice. It is expensive, many sites are close together, the times we were there, the kids were driving golf carts up and down the lanes past our site. That being said, there are lots of things for the kids to do and you're close to the beach.

Nice campground. Can be tight if full. Really nice bathhouses. People super friendly. We stopped going due to the extreme prices. Even in the off season price is too high..we used to go about 10 times a year for weekend trips but no go about 1 time a year and started going other places. But overall it is a really nice place.

I'm surprised this has not been mentioned before. This website has some very good reviews.
We have visited this park many times in the last few years. It is not only a destination park but also has some great amenities available in the area. We can't wait to go back.

Excellent CG. We go several times each summer. Very clean and well run. Lots to do for everyone and right on the beach. We always have a great time there. Enjoy your trip.

I've never stayed there, but used to live in the area. Very popular place in the summer months. Right on the beach. Lots to do for kids and adults in the CG and surrounding area. If we didn't go to the OBX twice a year, there is a good chance I would go to Holiday Travel Park instead.
