From Ohio to Florida via the Scenic Route

Trying to create a route and campground recommendations from Akron, Ohio to eventually winding up in Dade City Florida. We want to take the secondary roads with no real time frame to get there. Would like to visit Hilton Head and Myrtle Beach and any other suggestions any of you might have. The issue is that my trailer is 30 feet and my truck is a Ram2500 Crew Cab which is also very long. Need campsite recommendations where we can actually maneuver our trailer into spots with ease (AND WITH A DOG). Older campgrounds that we have encountered seem to never have great spots for a long rig and we get stuck in less than desirable spots. WOuld like suggestions for roughly every 300-400 miles we would potentially travel per day (not sure if that is too optimistic), Hoping some of you may have done this similar route before. I 2nd Rt. 23 and Natural Tunnel SP. Truly a scenic drive through KY (they call it the Country Music Hwy). If you don't want to stop at Natural Tunnel, there is a real nice private park near there called Jessie Lea.

I don't know much about beyond NC...it's too hot for me personally is the south April through Sept. Enjoy your trip.

I can't help you campgrounds, but there is a website called RV Park Reviews that might help.

As for staying off blue roads, we do that a lot....
But I have a good copy of Street Atlas and I do this:
Click on:
Route,
Advanced,
Route Prefs.
Select "Limited Access Roads" and turn the speed WAY DOWN, If you check avoid, it will assume you don't want to use this road ever and may lead you a merry way to avoid a mile of interstate.
Continue down the list choosing speeds and "Preferred, Standard and Avoid". The speed change works best.

I don't know if an any other planning package can do this, but I do this all the time as we have come to love seeing the real America and this is a good way to find it. We drove 200 miles of US-127 last weekend.

Thanks to the Interstate Highway System, it is now possible to travel across the country from coast to coast without seeing anything. Charles Kuralt

I was in Dade City today... with TV only... I usually pick up 301 off A1A just below FL/GA line and come down 301 all the way to Dade City. 31' fiver with 2500 CC, LB.

Hardeeville, SC has a nice, no frills park, easy access into Savannah. Stayed at South of the Border Camp Pedro... long pull-thrus, Dillon, SC Then cut over to Myrtle Beach.
