Looking for a park on / close to the water in mid to late January. Is the Galeston SP of value? Do you have good recommendation based upon your experience?

Thanks

Scott, the name of the park Bumpy writes about is called Bayou Shores. Its an OK park. Have been there once. The restaurant is good and has live music at times. Not on the gulf or by beaches. It is on Offats Bayou. Go to rvparkreviews.com to read other folks reviews.

evidently it is ave P 1/2 :???? that the campground is off of. IIRC, that turn onto P 1/2 is sort of tight and I think I went a few blocks further to make my right to get over to 63rd? st. Boudreaux's on Bayou is evidently the current name of that restaurant. if you put that name in google earth it will show that campground. 6310 heards lane?

Bumpy, not sure which campground you are talking about but I am interested. Is is west of the state park?

thanks,
Phillip

no where near the state park. just after coming across the causeway it is a few blocks to the right (South?). it is on the bay side of the island, not the gulf side. they changed names since I was there, maybe heaven something? will go to google earth and see if I can find it. I did post the gps coordinates here a long time back and will see if I can find those again. there is a restaurant adjacent .
it is on 63rd st., after getting off the causeway/road it is right (W?) on 61st and just past the bay.
on google earth it is easy to spot, they have added two piers since I was there.29-16-43-28 and 94 50 08 42 are as close as I can guess for gps coordinates.
just thought of another reason I didn't like the gulf side of the island, the shore line was choked with seaweed/kelp/whatever. a stinking terrible mess to try to wade in.

This is quite a ways from Galveston, but a lot of people don't know that Sea Rim State Park is now open again. It was closed for years due to hurricane damage but it is open now, right at the top of the Texas gulf coast near Port Arthur. Even if a person intends on continuing to Galveston it's nice knowing this park is open - and providing lots of nice beach access.

We prefer the state park. Although it is much reduced in size since the hurricane, it has covered picnic shelters and decent space between sites. The beach is much less crowded than any closer to town.

They are currently rebuilding the beaches in Galveston. Lots of noise if on the water.
I've been to all 50 States but my RV hasn't.

We are now at Sandpiper RV Resort and this is our second time. Right on Seawall Blvd, close to shopping and restaurants.

We stayed at Dellanera back in October and would recommend it. Close to the beach...easy back into town and very nice people to deal with.

Dellenera is nice. Right on the beach at the west end of the seawall. Sandpiper is very nice and a bit pricey. Right on the east end of the seawall. There is a park on Offats Bayou in town. Don't remember the name. It has some fulltimers in it. Decent but nothing special. Galveston Island State Park about 6 miles out. Haven't been there since the hurricane and then Jamaica Beach RV park just past GISP. Have never been but heard its nice. That's about it for the immediate Galveston area
