Going in October, no kids, and needing advice on:
Gatlinburg or pigeon forge ( Better for eats, shops, tourist stuff)
No toad , so needing rental car or uber.
Nice park? Big rig, 9-9-9 rating or close

Any other comments appreciated.

Pine Mtn, great campground and is on the trolley route. Look up the trolley on line for cost and routes. Very inexpensive to use and it even goes to G'burg.

We like Gatlinburg also but I like the location of the the campground in Pigeon Forge

We enjoyed going up the hill to the new Anakeesta for the view, memorial, and we walked the hanging bridges. Be sure to do the Roaring Fork Drive out of Gatlinburg. We love eating at Little Tokyo in Pigeon Forge. See the water show at "The Islands". We like the Opry show in Pigeon Forge and Fanny Adams in Gatlinburg.

Another vote for Pine Mtn RV Park. You might just be able to do without renting a car or UBER. It's 2 blocks off the parkway so you don't get much noise, but it is right in the thick of things.

As someone stated, that is the busiest time of the year, so you may have to go with wherever you can find a spot.

Someone suggested Anchor Down and it is great, but has a price tag to match it. Just across the late is Douglas Dam Headwater Campground, which is very nice, but has water/electric only. It's $25/night. We also like Smokey Bear in Cosby, but it takes 30 minutes to get into Gatlinburg and another 15 to get into Pigeon Forge, as well as Whispering River Resort in Walland, TN, also another 30 minutes out.

We use Twin Creeks very good facilities, has store, dog park and located between towns close to shopping, restaurants, Park entrance, craft route and on trolley route. A little expensive but worth the price.

Twin Creeks RV Resort is very nice and close to Downtown Gatlinburg (about a mile off the main strip).

You may find somewhere to camp in late October but that month is their busiest. Things tend to wind down at the end of the month. If you can't get into something in PF/Gat the try Anchor Down which is nearby and on a lake.
