After travelling around for the last 9 or so years we are thinking of spending more time in one place. We are not sure where that will be but are going to rent a lot in the Foothills of Yuma, and see how that goes. We have arranged to rent a lot for 6 weeks after Xmas.
Can anyone that currently stays in the area advise me of the best (ie cheapest) internet provider that does not require a contract period or a large installation fee?
The lot owner indicated there are local providers that will hook up for no cost and no contract but I haven't been able to find any info. He didn't give me a name and not sure he does know which ones. He has another provider and didn't recommend them as he said he has had issues.
Thanks

"Call your carrier & cancel international roaming"....I have never experienced a problem going to Los Algodones or anywhere close to the border in that corner of the state....I never turn my phone off....IMO, those days are long gone.

Every year we go to Time-Warner in Yuma and rent a cable modem for the two months we are at Cocopah RV & Golf Resort. Cost is about $60/mth. Yes you do have to have access to the Time-Warner cable network.

Try Beam Speed. It is wireless. I forget what the hookup fee is but you pay by the month. We always had excellent service when we had it. When done with it, we simply returned the unit to Beam Speed on Palo Verde St. Only reason we no longer use the service is we are fulltimers and travel during the warm months and the Verizon Jet Pack works best while traveling and parked here in the Foothills for approx. 6 months.

Smart Phones and MiFi's have settings to prevent roaming. Walk into a vendor store and have them help you set it up if you do not know how to do that.

Dunno about now, but that used to be a HUGE problem with cellphones along the border locking onto Mexican cell sites as roamers, and here come the bills..

I was always afraid of getting charged those high dollar roaming fees on my cell and internet things.

Was never smart enough to know how to turn those things off. Only small kids know how how to do that... hehe

Might make a few phone calls to the places shown in the google map search.

We use our VERIZON MIFI unit for internet but when close to the southern borders we turn everything off...

Why do you turn every thing off close to the border?
