My DW grew up in Cincinnati and has talked about when she was a little girl going to Lake Cumberland and Dale Hollow. I know absolutely nothing of the area. I am wondering what CGs are in that area and more specifically what ones have water front sites. We have a 30 ft TT and just enjoy being outdoors and probably taking in a couple of Reds games. We prefer SPs and COEs, we probably won't go up that way until summer of 2015 but I'd like to start looking at CGs. Any help is greatly appreciated. No substitute for experience.

I live in Somerset, Ky and my home is on Lake Cumberland. There are a number of cg's near town and out in the county, but I'd suggest General Burnside Island State Park to you. Pulaski County Park has some sites pretty close to the river. Check the Kentucky campgrounds' website for all the parks/campgrounds around Lake Cumberland. As for Dale Hollow, we take our motorhome over there a number of times each summer so I can play their great golf course and we also like to hike the woodland trails and eat at the lodge.

Check out Little Farm on the River near Rising Sun Indiana. They have sites on the Ohio River bank and not too far from Cincy so you could catch a Reds game.

Cumberland Point Recreation Area is COE on Cumberland. Its beautiful.

Kendall Recreation Area on Cumberland River

Although not on Cumberland The Grove and Holly Bay on Laurel River Lake are two more fantastic campgrounds run by the Forest Service. They are two of our favorites.

Try Natural Bridge State Park also. Sites on the creek are nice

Cincinnati is 3-4 hours from Dale Hollow Lake in KY. Beautiful area! Lillydale Campground on Dale Hollow Lake looks like it provides what you're looking for. This site: LREC2 is lakefront with water and electric hookup. Go to: www.recreation.gov and search for Glasgow KY and you will find lots of campgrounds in that area. Look to the rite of the list of campsites and it tells if it's waterfront. If you want to stay in Cincinnati area, we like the county park Winton Woods. Not lakefront but a really nice park with full hookups.
Another of our favorites although way in the country is Bailey's Point on Barren River Lake. Be sure to take everything you need with you. A few waterfront sites but you can bike or walk to the swimming beach from any site. Some sites are up on a bluff overlooking the lake with no lake access from the site.
