Looks like a nice place. Booked a trip and was thinking about how does the canoeing part work? I actually have kayaks, but similar thing... If you float down the river 2.5 miles, how do you get back?

Do I need to take a bicycle and tie it to a tree at the end of the route and ride it back?

This is from their website and there is no mention of transportation back.

Canoeing: Bring your canoe to Little Fishing Creek and enjoy a pleasant journey. The creek flows through the park for about 2.5 miles and offers an opportunity to view the area from a different perspective. Perfect for beginning canoeists, the waters of Little Fishing Creek flow slowly and there are few obstacles along the way. Shallow water near rock outcrops may make portaging necessary at certain spots. The creek is accessible from the bridge on SR 1322, and a 1.5- to two-hour trip leads to a take-out point at the bridge on SR 1002. Contact park staff for information about water levels as high water can create dangerous conditions. Canoeists should exercise caution and wear personal flotation devices at all times.

Spent 6 nights last week at Medoc. Great trip and no rain! Had the entire campground to ourselves Mon-Thur as no one else was camping on those days. It was so quiet.

The trails were closed until mid-week from the previous weeks storms. I took my kayak's but there was no shuttle back. Besides the river didn't look very friendly and from the walks we took, we saw alot of downed trees that would have required us to get out and go over them. Though not boater friendly, it is very hiker friendly and the trails were beautiful with cool flowers and mushrooms. Saw some neat critters like a blue tailed salamander and different frogs. Saw some not so neat critters like ticks and annoying bees. (thats camping)

Every night at 9:30pm jet fighters flew over the camp ground, which added some excitement.

They also have a very big open field. I saw this before I went and took my rc plane and was able to have some flying fun.

Went to Clary's speedway (dirt circle track) Friday night which is very close to the campground on 561 / 4. What a blast that was! Great way to end my week as we went home Saturday.

BTW, the campground gate is locked at 10pm. They will give you the code to get in if you ask.

No AT&T cell service in the campground or surrounding area.

Camped at Medoc Mountain over Labor Day. Very nice, small, quiet and clean state park. We saw several RVs on campsites with kayaks but never saw one off of its trailer. Did not see any float past while we hiked the various trails along the creek banks, either.

We saw no boat shuttles on the roads. Given the small size of the park and the fact that the creek is not as easily kayaked at say the Nantahala in western NC, I doubt there would be enough business to support one.

The caution that some portaging is required is correct. There are several snags and shallow water locations. That said, today we have had a lot of rain today with more predicted for tonight. A personal weather station in the upper portion of that drainage basin shows 6 inches of precip so far today. Around here that is called a "frog strangler."

We did have a very enjoyable stay. We had an electric-only site which provided 50, 30 and 15 amp service. It must have been decent power because my power protector gave me a good green light. The dump station was easily accessed and the bath house was clean.

Have fun if you go.

Do a search for canoe outfitters in the area and see if they offer a shuttle service.

I think I'd call or email the park directly with that question. I know that there are several canoe/tubing/whitewater rafting companies around here for such transportation, but I have no idea of that area.

Sounds like you would take a vehicle downstream and leave it at the exit point. Search around that area as there may be rental places that would transport you back up stream for a small fee. That's how it works on some recreational streams or rivers.
