Miami area?

I will be going to the coral gables area over the Christmas holidays to attend a sailing event for my son. I have not found anything nearby, the parks all seem to be quite a distance from the Miami area. Any suggestions? I have a TT, so no tenting.

I agree with Larry and Penny as well as Miami Everglades as good locations . A bit further south and not quite sa nice is Southern Comfort in Homestead.. we stay there for the Nascar race.

You might want to research Miami Everglades. It has a Miami address, but it's sort of between Homestead and Miami, not far south of US-41.

We stayed there this past winter and really liked the place. The rating are high at RV Park Review.com. See the link to their website for the Miami area campgrounds.

Coral Castle is a cool place. IIRC, costs $15 per person. You can walk thru on your own, but I HIGHLY recommend a guided tour. Tour guides sit just inside the coral gate after you pay the entrance fee. It is right on Rt 1.

Miami Everglades is our favorite, and is close to where you want to be.
They have full hookups, a pool and WiFi

We use it on our way to snow birding in the Keys

If you like national park type campgrounds (no hook-ups) then we like the one just inside Everglades NP; has the word "pine" in it. Nice sites and bathroom; just no hook-ups. Also, further west on the Tamiami Trail is Midway Campground; another very nice NP campground but with elec hook-up. However, not very close to Miami.

Might look at Larry and Penny Thompson Park. Not too far from Coral Gables. While in the area, visit the Coral Castle just south of Homestead. Amazing!
