I'd like to head south this winter in my new class C, spend time in AZ and TX. I don't tow so my current plan is to drive down and spend a few weeks touring, then store it for a month or so and fly back home (Western CO) Spend the winter flying down, touring with the rv for a few weeks and flying back, alternating my winter between home and warmer climes. Is it absolutely imperative to have advance reservations in places like Havasu or Rockport or is it just not possible to wing it a bit and hope for availability around arrival time.

Slowly pedaling south. Usually Tuesday after Labor Day we start south out of Montana. Sitting Twin Falls, ID. now for a week, then on to Ely, NV. for a day or two, then into Boulder City, NV. for the car show in Henderson and the truck race at Sin City Motor Speedway. We usually get back to Yuma, AZ. for the winter about the second or third week of October. Nothing set in stone!

We'll be heading out from Abbotsford on Oct. 12th, headed for Ft. Mohave and the west coast of Arizona. Heading back to the Great White North at the end of March.

Happy sunshine everyone!

We leave the Adirondacks on Sept 20th and spend a month on the road exploring new parts of 7 States, working on the 'ol Bucket List, before we hit our Winter base near Tampa. Keeping the journey as much fun as the destination!

I will leave early October. I like the idea of exploration of the states in between. I usually just run hard from point A to B, guess its time to smell the roses.

We have noticed more winter texans arriving here in Rockport, TX this past week! We have never been here this early (normally don't arrive until early Dec.). But the locals say they get here earlier every year. We did hear aboout some early snow/frost up north.

We started making our 2015 plans, by reserving "our" spot before we left Texas this spring.
Right now, we plan on taking off next week heading to Branson. Then West, across KS-CO to the Four Corners area.
Then a loop back thru Colorado & back home. Sometime late Oct.
Then head south for the winter mid-Dec.

We sure hope we can figure out someway of affording to head out by the end of November.

FWIW, I know of one Canadian who comes down and buys a slide in camper and hauls it back in the spring to sell. Supposedly the profit pays for the winter. That's all I'm going to say on that, since I'm sure there is more to the story.

I just read last week how the US dollar is strong right now, it didn't even occur to me how quickly that might affect our snowbird neighbors to the north.

John & Joey, it all adds up quickly. We made a bank to bank transfer yesterday of $5,000 to cover our rent and such in San Benito, Texas. It cost $502.12 Can for the transfer.

We're Early Birds, leaving here on September 18th. There hasn't been much of a summer here anyhow. Bugs have been worse than normal too. We'll miss the fall colors but this could be oneof those years when it snows befor the leaves fall.
