Moab and vicinity

My wife and I are planning a trip to Moab, Canyonlands, Arches, etc. in November. Unfortunately, we will NOT be camping, as we only have a week for this trip. We will be renting a 4wd, so we can get to out of the way destinations. The plan is to fly in to Salt Lake City and drive down.

My questions are, what are the "don't miss" sites? Anything in between Salt Lake City and Moab that is a must? Any particular place to stay and/or eat?

We do like hiking, love the beautiful sites, out of the way places. We're in the beginning stages of planning and appreciate any tips from those who have been there!

JFKMK - there is a lot of good info about off-roading in those areas in the Jeep Wrangler forum if you have time to check that site! Sounds and looks beautiful in those areas, and plan on getting my Jeep out there one day !

Don't focus on what not to miss, accept that as a fact given the time limitation many things will be missed. This forum will grant you a list as long as your arm of things to "not miss."

Research the area, online and at your library. See what speaks to you. Put that on your list and explore it well.

One week would scratch the surface of either of the National Parks right out Moab. One week could be the LaSalle's.

If wheeling or rock crawling is a passion, check into what guide services are operating that time of year... I don't think an airport Rent-A-Car place would allow wheeling with their 4wd suv typical highway vehicles.

In the Moab area, don't miss Mesa arch and the dugway.

Gemini Bridges Road, trail head at 191-ends at 313. A little spooky at the start but I did it in a four door one ton truck. There is a small campground on the south side where you can walk/climb on the smooth rock. I dont remeber the name but there is a rock formation at the back that looks like an owl. It's near goony bird rock iirc.

La Sal Mountains. This pic was in late October and the Aspen/poplar were spectacular, your season may vary.
