I'm reading various things from the lists in this short thread to my beautiful bride and apparently didn't enunciate this item well enough... she asked, why do you need a BLOW UP companion?

We're still laughing... but there could be a point there.

I can live without it. You should try Gorilla Tape.

The high lift is also sometimes called a farm jack. Folks say they work well, but they look dangerous -- seems like the vehicle could fall sideways if the user does not know what he is doing (and that describes me for sure).

Must haves would be water and food (including coffee). A shovel and some TP.

A battery is nice but not a must have. Less so a generator.

I see your point about food and water. ๐Ÿ™‚ But I wouldn't include coffee as a must have.

Whaaaaaaattttttt?!? Did I read right? No coffee?!? :E

Custom first aid/survival kit, Sawyer water filtration system, Leatherman, camp ax, pruning saw, two folding shovels, 25' tow strap, and several lengths of 1/2 inch plywood and 1x6s for leveling and bridge building (I've got a bent trailer bumper and stabilizer because I didn't bridge a rut that I should have). We can also carry up to 42 gals. of water in addition to the 31 gals. on-board. Not counting our regular meals, we have at least a weeks worth of dry provisions (milk, rice, macaroni, flour, etc.), canned and packaged meals. And Mini Bic lighters everywhere. Wish list: Hi-Lift Jack and a HenWay.

High lift jack- we used to call it something else; can't remember at the moment. Oh yeah- handyman jack! Anyway, VERY reasonable at Harbor Freight. Only thing is- I can't use it on any of my vehicles, and for sure not on my RV. Most of this stuff listed I carry anyway regardless whether I'm boondocking or not.

What do you use to carry that water? I've been looking for a good solution for transporting additional water.

Thanks.

I carry mine in a 55 gallon food grade plastic drum I bought fo $25. Bought a 12v pump to pump it in to the camer tank.

You are a wise man.

1. Two AGM 6v or Group 27 12v batteries- okay, gotta replace my 12Vs
2. Solar power (100 watts)- don't think I need w/ generators*
3. Propane (2x5 gal tanks)- have 2 15 gal tanks
4. Seven gallon portable water tank- don't have- yet
5. First Aid Kit- check
6. Water Purification Kit- don't have; don't need
7. Saw Zaw (for cutting firewood)- cordless Sawzall on the list
8. Firestarter- check
9. Camera- check
10. Altimeter App- don't need
11. Dump Station Location App- don't need
12. GPS/Maps- maps, yes
13. GPS locator- nope; don't need

* I have asked about this in another topic- to paraphrase- do I need to go solar since I have generator power for charging? Any consensus?

Am I ready? Don't know yet...
