Just brought our RV to Prince Edward Island for the summer season,Hooked up the Shaw Satelite nothing called and found that starting June 1st need a second account that will cost 50% of the package you have at your principal residence. Got every thing set up with the second account a service guy is suppose to show up Wednesday to install the new LB etc.
The big problem as i see it is when we go South for the Winter The lady we were talking to said no more US service. You can suspended this service for up to 10 months so guess when we are ready to go South and we get this second account activated just don't tell them where we are headed and hope that it will work in the US.
Anyone else have any thoughts on this.

I have been buying tickets from Matt at Jobing.Com Arena. You can purchase them over the phone and pick them up at one of the ticket booths at the arena on game day or before. Or, like I do, have them emailed to you and you print up the tickets. It saves waiting in line. Here is Matt's info.

That's good to know Gadget Guy. Yeah the Flames really took it to the Caps. I'm a big Canucks fan and follow while down south. We drive from Quartzsite to Glendale to see the Canucks play the Coyotes a couple of times during the winter. The price of the tickets are outstanding.

Where do you get your tickets? Would like to see a couple of games.

Is hockey still available in HD in the 300's? I sure hope the answer is yes. We won't be turning Shaw back on till the middle of Nov so the suspense is killing me.

Watched the Flames beat Washington last night on the CBC 300 channels last night. My only regret was that I did not place a bet on the Flames as we went by the sports book last night on the way to dinner.

Everything works the same as last year.

The only thing you will be missing is the NEW HD channels on the new G1 sat. All the stuff currently on the old channels will still be there.

Just arrived in Ft. Mohave, Arizona this afternoon, set up my Shaw Direct, big dish, old LNB and 600 receiver. Everything is great except the HD channels that we all knew we wouldn't get. Life is still good in TV land.

Wilco - go to the "System Status" you will see Trip Count. If this is zero after receiving a refresh and does not start counting up you have a problem. This count may take a few minutes to start.

On my coach I still have the old LNB and two receivers that have NOT been upgraded for the 3rd new satellite knowing that I would not get reception in the south country. I did take a new LNB with me as well as a receiver that has been upgraded to receive the new satellite with me and if I have time I may change it out and see if it will work and what if any other channels I can get.

The New HD channels in the 500's for you or the Lower #'s for folks with the classic map Do Not work down there at all. For you the channels you used to get will still be in the 300's for now and the upper 200's for the Classic map.
I had a call from a customer the other day we just put a new winegard dish on his coach and he had the dish locked but still no signal. I asked him what channel he was on and he did not know, so I asked him to switch to 299. He did not think he could change channels when he had the lost signal displayed on the TV But low and behold 299 came in as well as all the rest of the normal channels. He had left it on channel 2 Global HD. ๐Ÿ˜„

Ed, are you getting HD channels? If so, are you receiving the new 500 channels - BC & Alberta local HD channels? Also, did you take a PVR or basic receiver?

Great info...and I'm sure a great relief for many folks! I'll add my own report when I get there.

Since there are still several possible configurations for the system (new LNB/old LNB, upgraded receivers/not upgraded, mobile dish/stationary dish and so on, it would be good to include in a report what combo you are using along with the results.

Gadget Guy, I've got the Travler as well and finally got it set up so it's working on the new rig here at home. Have new receivers, the new LNB, latest software etc. and all is working well near home. Looking forward to what happens with this combo when I lose the new sat on the way south. I'm guessing not much...but time will tell.

After all the supposition, it's great to hear some actual reports! By the way, what's a "TRIP COUNT"? Haven't come across this yet.

Cheers,

Excellent advice - make SURE that you have used your received at home for at least 24 hours before heading south.

We left Canada today and only drove into Montana. We have a travell'er Winegard system. It found the satellite immediately but NO picture. I used my US CELL phone and called the 800 number with no problem and asked for a "Refresh" by using the number keys. That part worked fine but still NO picture. I went into the options menu and I could see that the "TRIP COUNT" was working. I needed a major "DOWNLOAD" which I did myself and about 3/4 of an hour later I had a TV picture. I would highly recommend that before leaving Canada you set up or use your receiver for at least 24 hours so that it will do and have all the latest downloads in the receiver before you leave just in case you have a problem so you can talk to a tech while still in Canada. If you know how to do system downloads then fine but it may still be a good insurance just in case. Keep in mind this would only apply to users that do not use there receivers in their house while in Canada. My receiver had NOT been turned on for about 2 months.

We left Canada on Sept 24th and have used the Shaw Direct dish EVERY NIGHT since then in Sun Lakes State Park, Pendleton, Glenns Ferry, Moab, Salt Lake City, Durango, Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Alamogordo, and City of Rocks State Park. Everything is working as expected.
