Ocean lakes mess

Have spent the week in ocean lakes at myrtle beach. This park is completely out of control. The children on golf carts rule the roads from 8:30 pm on....trying to walk the dog is an exercise in simple survival. It is 12:39 and I am parked next to an extremely loud and obnoxious party next door. Security has chosen not to interfere. I will never ever come back here again.

And if you have been on here more than 3 days and read on here, you will see the same argument over and over of how some don't like ocean lakes. It's no secret and nothing new that its way crowded during the summer and there are a lot of golf carts.

Getting crabby because people want to talk about a place is no way to promote your blog wbwood. Stop getting so defensive: or do you own the place?

I think I'm seeing a pattern. Those who don't have or rent a golf cart are the ones that don't like the place. They are having to dodge golf carts. We've been there without a golf cart and even my daughter and I walked up to the main stretch for the nightly cruise and we never felt that we had to dodge golf carts. Of course we didn't walk down the middle of the road either. We stayed to the side.

There are better parts of e park to stay in, depending on the time of the year to go. One reason why I said to research, which could actually mean to ask ahead of time from those who go often. And it goes for Lakewood too.

We stayed there a week several years ago and spent the days dodging the kamikaze kids in the carts too.:E I like a good time personally and don't mind the racket:B because I believe everyone who stays there spends their money for the privelege. :C I guess it's just a matter of how one is raised which determines how they behave. However, no one (even my grandson who loves the beach) has ever expressed a desire to go back. :B

go to a beach town campground that is known for it's silliness

Silliness and being run over by a golf cart driven by a child are two different things.....one being unsafe for the child and dangerous to others.

Okay, craziness, lunacy, idiocy, whatever. Sorry I didn't choose a word that best described it to you Pal.. Stick your own word....wherever. Some of you people are just goofy.

X3 We enjoy Ocean Lakes glad to be able to bring our Golf Car...... We see security stop under age drivers all the time $100 fine & loss of privilege......going to be there in July looking forward to it as always...5-6 Security officers a shift can not be everywhere with 40,000 people in a 300 acre area...........29 miles of roadways in OL.

SC has changed the Golf Cart law so if Registered & it meets their requirement they can be driven within 4 miles of "home" base.... so you will see more private carts outside on the "side" streets LOL

Nah. they won't come to PL. PL won't let them bring their carts, and many of them don't want to setup on grass, or sand

And a whole lot of them have to have pull thrus.
If they only knew how much cooler it is on the grass, with no concrete under you.

There's still some like at at OL, back in the back area. Matter of fact our spot is like that for the next two weeks and still a pull through. Lol

We will have the quietness in e back and can drive our golf cart up front to the craziness when we want to.

I agree with Terryallan about loving MB. We love MB but there are many things that happen at most of the places there that are not going to please everyone. Big money is made in the cart business there at most of the cg's. If that changed, the cart problem would go away. But the carts are not going away, so the big money wins again. You just have to choose if you want to enjoy a MB campground and put up with the other or not go there. We choose to continue to go there and don't feel threatened by cart drivers, but we also do not stay at Ocean Lakes because it is just a little too big for us. Lots of folks to share a small strip of sand on the beach. Heck, I have almost been ran over by folks on bicycles before. As with anywhere, be careful and watch your surroundings.

You are right mocky. And Lakewood is on the verge of coming into swing with ocean lakes. They went from no personal golf carts to where you can have them, but you have to store them there. Next thing, they will allow you to bring them in.

And goi on about security not doing anything. Lakewood has a no alcohol policy or did (not sure if they changed in the last year). But there were loads of people walking around with beer and other drinks. Yes they were loud and obnoxious. Security drive by and do nothing. Why? Because they didn't get complaints. I imagine those parks on the south side have told their security to not be as hard unless complaints. But on the other hand, I have watched security at OL stop adults that had a beer can in the cup holder of a golf cart and confiscate it at the nightly parade on the main stretch.

And thank you wvhurricane for at enlightening PM. :R

Sorry you are offended that someone didn't agree with you.

Lol. With more topics like this, then maybe OL will open up more for the rest of us. May Lakewood, Pirateland, MBTP, and willow tree be over flooded. ๐Ÿ™‚

PL, Lake Wood, and MBTP already are. They fill up as quick as OL. I made our Reservations before Thanksgiving, and could not get any of the sites I wanted. I like front row? Cause I like the niughtly golf cart parade. Reminds me of how it's always been. You cruise till you find a girl. It's fun to sit and watch. And at PL, it ends at 11:00 PM on the dot. No if, ands or maybes. They are all gone in what seems like the blink of an eye.

Maybe you should have just a little fear. You do remember the boy that was killed a summer or so ago, at OL while he was trying to protect a girl from a drunk on a golf cart?
Turns out. Even though they were from the same town. they didn't know each other before the attack.

Again. That's why we go to PitateLand. It's quieter, and the carts are more regulated. Plus. You can't bring you own cart to any MB CG except OL. Well you can bring it, but you got to leave it on the truck.

Honestly. If we couldn't find a site at any of the other MB CGs. We would go to OL. It's not bad enough to miss a beach trip over.

Here we go again. Terry, that incident had nothing to do with the facility. They were actually renting a house there and they could of easily rented at Lakewood, Pirateland or anywhere else. Had nothing to do with ocean lakes itself.

No just a drunk on a golf cart. It really could apply to all of them. Except MBTP. I know I'm careful when I cross the road to the beach.

OL is worse only because they allow you to bring your own. So more people have them, and many go to OL for that reason only. and in truth. Security is a little more lax at OL, or it was when we were there. Just rode around in their Crown Vics with the AC on.
However, as I've said. OL ain't bad enough to skip a beach trip over, and the North end is much quieter than the middle, as far as Golf carts go. There is the party club over the fence. But that's the beach.
