Park in South Central Florida

We are looking to snowbird in south central Florida. We have a 25' travel trailer. Normally we camp in state park or Corp of Engineers parks. So we like trees name pretty views. Not interested in large parks where the sites are close together. We would like a swimming pool. Don't need a lot of structured activities. We are golfers and like to hike, walk and enjoy nature. Suggestions?

Riverside has an Arcadia address, but it is 18 miles away. It is definately different than the other parks with Arcadia address EXCEPT Cross Creek. Cross Creek is in the middle of no where. Riversidervresort.com on the web site for Riverside and look at your map. Riversidesnowbirds.com for more info.

Life Oak is another park that has many park models, but is a well managed facility with golf.

We won a free 2 month stay with purchase of 1 at Cross Creek resort which looks very nice - however, we drove through Arcadia area and it had zero appeal. The area didn't seem to offer much in our opinion. The park has an active schedule but we prefer to do non park stuff as well when travelling. Arcadia is in the middle of no where but there are several RV parks there so it must have some appeal, but we couldn't figure it out.

I always check out the places I might go to personally, I did check out
Arcata and Sebring, I didn't like the area and crossed it off my list. I favor Palmetto, Bradenton, Sarasota and Lakeland areas myself, Ocala area is nice but gets a little colder than the areas I listed. Would go to Naples if it weren't so expensive. That's my humble opinion.

Listed under Arcadia but closer to Port Charlotte is Oak Haven. It is not a resort type park but it is reasonably priced for the area and is near a decent golf corse.

I would agree with checking out Arcadia. Below is a link to parks in the Arcadia area. There are a few just north of Arcadia that would fit your description. One park we drove though last year that we thought was very nice was Cross Creek. Very nice park. We just recently stayed a week at Riverside RV Park which is actually much closer to Port Charlotte than Arcadia. It's a great park, but if you're budget minded it may be a bit expensive. The pools are nice and there are a lot of activities.

PS: In regard to golfing in Arcadia, we passed 2 golf courses along Hwy 17 not too far from Cross Creek.

You might also check out Sebring. Rates are much less the further inland you will go compared to either coast. We're at Highland Hammocks State Park in Sebring right now. The weather in this area is much warmer than further north. We stayed at Whispering Pines Village for a few nights last year. It's a nice little park and while it didn't fit our needs for the future the people running the park and the residents we met were very nice. It's an active park with plenty of activities for the residents. The big plus is that the monthly rates are in the $450 range. We met a fellow yesterday in downtown Sebring (also originally from MI) who told me that if I loved golfing then Sebring was a great spot. He said the rates here are much less than the coasts. We drove by several courses and they sure look great.

I would suggest the Arcadia area. Not sure about the golf thing.
