What is available if a person does not to do the KOA overpriced park thing (or to me anyway)... I only saw two on a search.
I guess if it came down to it then KOA would work. We just like to be thrifty...

We stayed at Dutcher Creek about a year ago & loved it. Kinda depends on what you are in the area to do.

Petaluma KOA is a gem in the KOA system. Paved, clean, large staff, excellent location. In this case you really do get what you pay for. However, if your into saving, just down the road is Costco, and their fresh crab is so much less expensive than on the Pier, and just as fresh.

the tribe that owns the casino NE of Healdsburg, operates a RV campground just east of Healdsburg, right on the Russian River.
here's a link:

Alexander Valley RV campground

have been there a few times. pretty simple campground with few amenities but it's in a great area to do things, especially wine tasting.

Napa Valley also offers a number of places. i used to live there so if you're interested in recommendations for Napa Valley, send me a PM.

Wine Country RV Park in Windsor is a decent older park.

If you can do without hookups Dillon Beach aka Lawsons Landing is our favorite place. On the ocean and less than 30 min to Petaluma.

We've used Santa Rosa Fairgrounds and they even accept some camping cards such as Passport America or Escapees. Just make sure no big event is going on.
