Questions about Petit Jean State Park

Leaving soon for Petit Jean State Park. I know there is a restaurant in the lodge on site but should I bring all the supplies I need or is there somewhere close by for groceries. I dont want to eat out the whole week and best I can tell closest Walmart is an hour away.

We'll be there for Halloween. Do I need to plan to decorate my site and for children to trick or treat? Anybody spent Halloween there in the past or will be there at the end of this week who can give me suggestions?

Thanks !!

The fire ban may have been lifted. The area got a good soaking this weekend.

Great place for fall camping.

You should tour the Wintrop (sp?) Rockefeller center which is about 2 - 3 miles from the campground. He was the governor of Arkansas and had his retreat there. I assume he was the grandson of John D. The state park office will know the hours for the center. The University of Arkansas now manages the resort/retreat and has a very nice restaurant there (not a fast food place). The fire ban may be lifted soon since the rain Patricia is producing is passing by. This a beautiful park especially this time of year.

I always like to go ahead and stock up then you can use the little store for fresh milk and bread, etc.
As for Halloween, just go ahead and decorate for the fun of it.
You can always eat the candy if no trick or treaters!:B

It's a beautiful park. Enjoy!

Just a couple miles east of the visitor center there is a small burger shack/resupply store. Has all the basics you would forget to bring on a trip + some neat souvenirs.

I was just there in September, beautiful park

We camped there last fall, there is a town called Morrilton that is close by, 20 minutes or so, that has groceries, Waffle House, etc. Petit Jean is a real nice CG.

There's a Kroger and a Big Star grocery in nearby Morrilton. To help you in future, do a Bing or Google search for what you need. In this case just type in "groceries in Morrilton" and a map will pop up with the stores highlighted.

As for Halloween celebrations I would call their office and ask. By the way, there is a campfire ban at Petit John and the surrounding areas.
