RMNP Fee Increase This Year

Back in October 2014, there was a proposal for a fee increase for Rocky Mountain National Park. In today's Fort Collins Coloradoan, there was an article that the fee increase is indeed going to happen, as of October 1, 2015. While it won't impact for the majority of this season, it will impact one of the more popular times to visit RMNP -- during Elk rutting season.

Effective Oct. 1:

โ€ขA new "Day Use Pass" will cost $20

โ€ขA seven-day pass will cost $30, up from $20

โ€ขA Rocky Mountain National Park annual pass will cost $50, up from $40

In 2016, campground fees will increase to $26 a night, up from $20.

By 2017, a Rocky Mountain National Park annual pass will increase to $60.

No impact noted on the Senior Pass that many of us have. Whew!!

Yup, just bought one at RMNP a few weeks ago for $80.

Edit-I misread your point whether it goes up. Sure hope it does not but it is still a pretty good deal even if up a few dollars.

It'd be a good deal still at 100 ... pushing it after that, at least for folks that are still working - takes a lot of time to visit National Parks, and only so many vacation days available per year.

If they double it like other fees doubled, it would be well outside my price range.

Thom, we lived in Estes when I turned 62 and could get an Old F---s pass. I was at the gate when it opened at 8am on that birthday. She said, "Oh my God, it is your birthday" and I said, "Yup, and I want to get a Senior Pass." Back then there was no charge and then in went to $10 cause all the old codgers would lose them and just get another....would try to keep them around if it would cost another $10.

However, we usually make a donation in the box at National Parks because I was told money donated there stays in the Park and does not go to the big collection in D C.

Hey Lauren,

How ironic! I also got mine at RMNP entrance gate on my 62nd birthday! Glad I did!

Capitol Reef, Glen Canyon, Cedar Breaks, Bryce Canyon and Zion will increase entrance and some other fees starting June 1. Grand Canyon will increase entrance and backcountry permit fees on June 1. No mention of changes to the Senior, Access or Military passes.
Safe travels!

Similar increases are impacting Tetons and Yellowstone. Guess inflation affects the giant Uncle Sam as it does little Joe the plumber - prices have to go up sooner or later.
